Returning after the incident
The house of Mr. Vu Khac Dung (born in 1985, a worker at Lihit Lab Company Limited) is located in a small alley in Thang Loi residential group, An Duong ward, Hai Phong city. Every neighbor knows about Mr. Dung's situation, loves him and his gentle and hard-working husband, but has an accident, turning his life upside down.
Two years ago, I had a work accident that left me right hand, reducing my workload by 65%. With the encouragement of my family and colleagues, a little time later, I also tried to get up, relearn to write, hold a stick, work with my left hand and return to work at the company afterwards" - Mr. Dung shared.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Lihit Lab Company Limited, Mr. Dung is the most serious case of a work accident ever at the company. The reason is that the two workers did not operate in accordance with the procedures, leading to unsafe labor.
More than 25 years have passed, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan (born in 1979, residing in An Hai Ward, Hai Phong, a worker at hereco Group Joint Stock Company) has become accustomed to losing his right arm due to a work accident. The incident occurred while repairing a paper grinder, causing him to lose 80% of his labor.
At that time, Mr. Tuan was only 20 years old, having just entered the factory for a week. Neither he nor his colleagues in the same shift had a clear understanding of the electrical equipment, leading to the unfortunate accident. Wrongness is also a big lesson, reminding me every day to comply with occupational safety and hygiene - Mr. Tuan shared.
Caring for and helping workers stabilize their lives
After the work accident, Mr. Vu Khac Dung returned to work at Lihit Lab Company Limited, and was assigned a working position by the company suitable for his health conditions, earning more than 6 million VND/month. His wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, applied to work as a worker at Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. and Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong to conveniently take and pick up her husband. Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also continues to work at hereco Group Joint Stock Company in the position of security guard, with an average income of more than 5 million VND/month.
The representative of the Trade Union of Lihit Lab Company Limited said that after the incident, in addition to arranging a suitable work position, the company supported Mr. Dung in his work, gave him a special leave regime, and paid his full salary to go for regular check-ups. Along with that, care for Mr. Dung and his family during holidays, Tet, and Workers' Month.
Recently, on the occasion of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor visited, encouraged, and presented gifts worth 5 million VND/gift along with gifts worth 500,000 VND; the Hai Phong City Labor Federation also presented gifts worth 2 million VND to encourage union members and workers who had work-related accidents.
At the families of workers who have had work accidents, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu visited the health status of union members as well as the difficulties in their current lives; hoping that union members will rise up in life.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directed the city's trade unions at all levels to pay more attention to union members in difficult circumstances and those who have had work-related accidents. The grassroots trade union is interested in and proposes that enterprises arrange suitable jobs for workers in work-related accidents, have appropriate support policies and regimes to encourage workers to overcome difficulties and stick with the enterprise.
