According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, from January 1 to March 7, 10 companies with more than 25,000 workers stopped working in the area and 2 companies with more than 14,000 workers showed signs of stopping work but were handled promptly. Through understanding the thoughts and aspirations of workers, most workers ask businesses to increase the regional minimum wage, increase shift allowances, support gasoline, raise young children and special needs.
Workers at Hoa Loi Group's enterprises in Thanh Hoa City have proposed increasing their bonuses. Currently, workers from 11 to 15 years receive a bonus of 100,000 - 400,000 VND/month, while in districts, the bonus from 3 months to 15 years ranges from 150,000 - 630,000 VND/month.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tuan - Head of the Legal Policy Department of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor - said that after the collective work stoppages occurred, trade unions at all levels in the province quickly took action in a timely manner.
In particular, the working groups of the Provincial Federation of Labor have coordinated with the authorities of districts and related units to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers. After that, they had a frank and responsible exchange on the basis of law with representatives of the company's leaders to ensure the legitimate rights of workers as well as stabilize production.
Company leaders have also proposed appropriate solutions, and the work stoppages have quickly ended.
According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, up to now, the production labor situation at enterprises has basically stabilized. However, there is still a risk of collective work stoppages in enterprises with a large number of workers, due to the need for salary increases and other welfare regimes.
To ensure stable production, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to strengthen the grasp of the situation and concerns of workers, coordinate with agencies, departments and local authorities to propagate and mobilize union members and workers. At the same time, it is recommended that the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee direct authorities and police at all levels to strengthen their grasp and propose appropriate solutions.
The Provincial Federation of Labor requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct competent agencies to strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies and regimes for workers, and require businesses to pay attention to welfare, avoid stopping work to resolve the matter.
