From July 1, the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor was transferred to the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for management and operation under a new model, called the Trade Union Working Committee. The Son La Trade Union Working Committee affirmed that it has assigned cadres to closely monitor the grassroots, determined not to let the rights of union members and workers be interrupted.

Manage 184 trade union organizations with 12,486 union members

According to the new decision, there are no longer district-level trade unions or industry trade unions, so the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor directly directs and supports grassroots trade union activities. From July 1, the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor was transferred to the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for management and operation under a new model, called the Trade Union Working Committee.

Ms. Thai Thi Mai - Head of the Son La Trade Union Work Committee - said that after transferring to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor was streamlined into a committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province. The personnel was also reduced to 12 officers. Currently, the Son La Trade Union Working Group is managing 184 Trade Union organizations with 12,486 union members.

According to Head of the Son La Trade Union Work Committee Thai Thi Mai, the restructuring of the apparatus is not simply a reduction in quantity, but more importantly, improving quality and effectiveness. The specialized departments after the merger will have a more compact structure but still ensure functions and tasks, reduce overlap, and increase connectivity.

"Reorganizing trade unions by block also creates favorable conditions for implementing tasks, in line with the practical organization of the province's administrative apparatus after merging district and commune-level administrative units. We commit that the rights of union members and employees will not be interrupted. All opinions and recommendations of union members and employees will be received and processed promptly, leaving no one behind" - Ms. Mai affirmed.

Continuing to innovate operating methods after the merger

The arrangement, streamlining of the apparatus and reassigning of trade union cadres in Son La are carried out flexibly. The reasonable transfer and appointment is based on capacity and strengths. The resources saved from streamlining the apparatus are being reinvested in grassroots activities. Focus on supporting union members and workers in difficult circumstances, while improving the quality of dialogue, collective bargaining, organizing emulation movements for production labor, and taking care of workers' social security.

It can be seen that the process of streamlining the trade union apparatus in Son La is an important step to realize the goal of innovating the organization and operation of trade unions in the direction of "state-of-art, effective, for union members". Streamlining the apparatus does not reduce the role of the Trade Union organization, but on the contrary, helps the Trade Union organization operate more closely to reality, focusing on its core function of caring for and protecting the rights of employees in the new situation.

According to Ms. Thai Thi Mai, after the restructuring and streamlining of the apparatus, trade union activities in the province continue to be innovated in terms of content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots and employees. At the same time, it will increasingly promote the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees. Thereby, contributing to solving many practical problems and complex problems arising among workers, maintaining political security, social order and safety, especially in industrial parks, clusters, and boarding houses with a large number of workers.

"The tasks of the Son La Trade Union Working Committee in the coming time are very large, with a large area and a large workload... However, the activities of the trade union will continue to focus on the grassroots, taking the grassroots trade union as the main area of activity; taking the needs and interests of union members and employees as the basis for developing programs and action plans.
