Workers' expectations in 2025: Job and income stability

On the occasion of the beginning of 2025, union officials and workers expect the country to continue to develop, create more job opportunities, improve income and implement long-term policies to care for union members and workers.

Workers want stable jobs and enough income to live on.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Chairman of the Binh Tan District Labor Federation, Ho Chi Minh City - shared that the Trade Union Law (amended) 2024 has just been passed by the National Assembly, effective from July 1, 2025, will create new advantages and challenges for the activities of trade union organizations, requiring each trade union official to improve their qualifications, knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of the task.

“First of all, it is necessary to quickly implement the policy and legal regulations on the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor being the managing agency for investment projects to build social housing using trade union financial resources for union members and employees to rent. Because when employees have stable housing, they will be attached to their jobs, attached to the enterprise and the enterprise will develop. The Vietnam Trade Union needs to have more programs to train and improve the qualifications of union officials, especially at the grassroots level, to meet the requirements of the tasks in the coming period,” Mr. Hai expressed.

Mr. Quach Man Nghia - Chairman of the Trade Union of Always Company (Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone) - said that although the country's economy has developed strongly, the salary and income of employees in the enterprise sector is still not high. If employees do not work overtime, they will not have enough income to live and raise children.

“I hope that in addition to salary reform in the administrative and career sectors, there should be salary reform in the business sector so that employees only need to work 8 hours/day to have enough money to support themselves and their children, and have more time to rest and take care of themselves and their families,” said Mr. Nghia.

Sharing the same thought, Ms. Phan Thi Thien - President of the Long Cuong Company Union (Thu Duc City) - also said that the greatest wish of workers is to always have stable jobs, with enough salary and income to support themselves and their children. "The government also needs to build more nurseries for workers' children in places with a large concentration of workers so that workers can feel secure leaving their children at work," Ms. Thien shared.

Strive to build a solid home

Accompanying the company through the difficult period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, Ms. Le Thi Chua - a worker at Tra Noc Industrial Park, Can Tho City - can happily celebrate Tet when her job and income are both stable.

“This year, there is a lot of work and overtime, my monthly income is more than 9 million VND. With this situation, the Tet bonus will probably be better than last year. This year, my family's Tet will be warmer and more complete,” Ms. Chua confided.

Along with the joy and expectation of a high Tet bonus, entering the new year, Ms. Phuong also has wishes for herself. Accordingly, a stable job and increased income are the biggest wishes of female workers.

“We always hope that the company will maintain stable production and increase overtime opportunities for workers. Once the company ensures income for workers as well as good treatment, we are always ready to accompany and devote ourselves to the development of the company,” Ms. Phuong confided.

Having worked at the company for more than 10 years, Ms. Chua said she has never had any intention of quitting or changing jobs. Partly because she has worked for a long time and the company's benefits are quite good, and partly because she does not want to leave her hometown and her children.

It is also a simple wish for a stable job as usual, but in 2025, Ms. Chua has set a new goal for herself, which is to strive to work to build a comfortable home for her small family.

“My husband and I are saving to build a house on the land our parents gave us. We hope the company will be stable and develop, helping us secure our income and realize our dream of a new home. I will also strive to meet the target and contribute to the company's development,” Ms. Chua shared.
