Meritorious people expect to receive nursing allowance

Mạnh Cường |

Decree No. 77/2024/ND-CP stipulates that the level of nursing care for people with revolutionary contributions will increase according to the new subsidy standard from January 1, 2025.

Accordingly, meritorious people can have their nursing expenses increased by 35.7%, with the highest level being VND 5,020,000.

According to the records, many contributors believe that the current level of nursing care is still quite low compared to the health effects of war. Most contributors want the level of nursing care to increase.

Mr. Nguyen Bach Dang (84 years old, Nam Dinh) said that when he learned that he was infected with Agent Orange, he and his wife decided not to have children to avoid future effects. Now, seeing people of the same age living peacefully and happily with their children and grandchildren makes him feel sad.

Not only that, the effects of Agent Orange also made it difficult for Mr. Dang to absorb daily nutrients. Therefore, his body was always thin, and he only wished to have more money to buy functional foods to improve his health.

Mr. Dang said that the current 6 million VND in war invalid and Agent Orange allowance is enough to take care of the life of the couple in their twilight years. However, to buy many types of supplements, more money is still needed. At the same time, thinking about his wife who lives with him every day, Mr. Dang feels even more heartbroken.

“In 2023, I received more than 1.4 million VND/time for home nursing care, and I gave it all to my wife. I want to save this money for my wife so she can take better care of herself,” said Mr. Dang.

Mr. Dang hopes that the level of nursing care subsidies for meritorious people will be increased, and increased soon when the subsidy increases to the new level.

As for Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh (76 years old, Nam Dinh), the current nursing expenses are quite low compared to the difficulties he is facing.

"1.1 million VND/period is the nursing allowance I receive. I have to take dozens of medicines every day, and cannot move around as well as other people. I have to rely on my wife and children to support me every day," Mr. Vinh shared.

Mr. Vinh said that he is currently unable to walk normally, and needs his wife to help him with eating, drinking, and personal hygiene. Seeing his wife struggling, Mr. Vinh cannot be happy and always feels like a burden.

That burden increases every day as the illness becomes more severe, and nearly three-quarters of the allowance must be spent on medication. Therefore, Mr. Vinh always hopes that the nursing expenses will increase and be paid regularly to compensate his wife who lives with him.

"I really look forward to this nursing allowance" - Mr. Vinh expressed his wish.

Decree 77/2024/ND-CP stipulates: Home health rehabilitation care: The cost is 0.9 times the standard rate/person/time and is paid directly to the beneficiary.

Concentrated health rehabilitation nursing: Expense level is 1.8 times the standard level/person/time. Expense content includes: Meal expenses during the nursing period; Essential medicines; Gifts for the subject; Sightseeing...

Thus, from January 1, 2025: Home health care cost = 0.9 x 2,789,000 = 2,510,100 VND/time.

Concentrated health rehabilitation care cost = 1.8 x 2,789,000 = 5,020,200 VND/time.
