Article 169 of the 2019 Labor Code and Article 5 of Decree 135/2020/ND-CP stipulate the retirement age under normal working conditions and early retirement as follows:
- Employees who ensure the conditions on social insurance payment period according to the provisions of the law on social insurance are entitled to receive pension when reaching retirement age.
The retirement age of employees in normal working conditions is adjusted according to the roadmap until reaching 62 years old for male employees in 2028 and 60 years old for female employees in 2035.
From 2021, the retirement age of employees in normal working conditions is 60 years and 3 months for male employees and 55 years and 4 months for female employees; then, each year it increases by 3 months for male employees and 4 months for female employees.
- Workers with reduced working capacity; working in particularly arduous, toxic, or dangerous occupations or jobs; working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions may retire at a lower age, but not more than 5 years older than the normal retirement age at the time of retirement, unless otherwise provided by law.

Male workers born in December 1963, under normal working conditions, have a retirement age of 61 and will start receiving pension from January 2025.
Female workers born in August 1968, under normal working conditions, have a retirement age of 56 years and 4 months, and will start receiving pension from January 2025.
If meeting the regulations on early retirement, male workers born in December 1968 will retire early at the age of 56, receiving pension from January 2025.
As for female workers born in August 1973, they will retire early at 51 years and 4 months old, and will receive pension from January 2025.
These cases must ensure the condition of having paid social insurance for 20 years.
