GGS Vietnam Industrial Park (Hoa Binh Ward, Phu Tho Province) specializes in the production of garments for export to the international market.
With an average income of 7 - 9 million VND/person/month, hundreds of workers are attached to the factory not only because of their stable work but also because of the thoughtful care of the Trade Union organization - where Ms. Sam is the one who "keeps the fire" in all activities.
Since 2014, when taking on the position of Trade Union President, she and the Executive Committee have negotiated and signed 6 Collective Labor Agreements, many of which are more beneficial than those prescribed by the Labor Code.
Employees who are given an additional day's leave will still receive full pay, and will be paid at least equal to the regional salary for the 13th month, the enterprise commits not to be late in salary or owe social insurance.
When workers are assured of their work, they will stick with and contribute more to the business, Ms. Sam shared.
Not only stopping at protecting rights, Ms. Sam also focuses on building a civilized and united working environment. The company's trade union regularly organizes cultural and sports activities, skills competitions, creating a joyful atmosphere, helping workers recharge after stressful working hours. Many small initiatives in technical improvement and material saving are encouraged, bringing practical efficiency in production.
In particular, in the face of the reality that some workers are facing financial difficulties and are easily falling into the "trap" of black credit, Ms. Sam has proactively proposed that businesses build internal welfare funds, giving workers un interest-free or low-interest loans to solve urgent needs. This approach not only helps workers overcome difficult times but also demonstrates the sense of responsibility and sharing of the Trade Union organization.
Another outstanding mark is the " Her Health" Project directly implemented by Ms. Sam at the factory. The project aims to improve the physical and mental health of female workers - the group that accounts for 85% of the company's workers. 30 female workers were trained to become propagandists, spreading knowledge of reproductive health care, preventing occupational diseases and sexually transmitted diseases. That positive spread not only helps female workers proactively protect themselves but also contributes to maintaining productivity and stabilizing labor for businesses.
Thanks to her efforts in innovation, creativity and efficiency in organizing trade union activities at FDI enterprises, Ms. Vu Thi Sam has been honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, local Party committees and authorities as an outstanding trade union official for many consecutive years.
The movements "Innovation, creativity, efficiency in the activities of the Trade Union organization" or "Good workers, creative workers" all mark the contributions of her and the Vietnam General Education Union.
Mr. Tran Phuong Dong - Deputy Head of the Industrial Park Trade Union, Phu Tho Provincial Federation of Labor - assessed: "Grassroots trade union leaders like Ms. Sam are a bridge connecting employers with employees, helping to maintain harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises".
Amidst the bustling industrial life, the image of a female union president is simple and tireless in each dialogue session, each program caring for workers as if lighting the warm flame of sharing and responsibility. For Ms. Vu Thi Sam, it is not only a job, but also a mission to preserve the happiness and trust of workers.
