Cultural institutions create motivation for migrant workers in Hai Phong

Mai Dung |

In recent years, Hai Phong City has prioritized allocating land funds, completing legal procedures, and accelerating the implementation of many social housing projects, worker housing and worker cultural institutions.

Hai Phong currently has more than 1 million workers, of which about 31.5 million are workers in industrial parks and economic zones. One of the highlights is the city's priority for developing social housing and worker accommodation associated with cultural and sports facilities. Many social housing projects and worker housing areas are being accelerated to meet the housing needs of tens of thousands of workers. Among them are social housing projects in Dong Hai ward with a population scale of about 12,000 people, social housing project (phase 1) in Hai An ward, belonging to Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone (population scale of about 9,500 people); social housing projects in An Duong area are expected to meet the housing needs of about 12,000 people...

On June 26, the city started the Investment Project to build a functional service area belonging to Dai An Industrial Park expansion (housing for workers and experts) with a total investment of about 1,111 billion VND, including 7 10-story accommodation buildings with a total of 1,074 apartments for workers to rent, 14 commercial service buildings... The formation of housing areas near workplaces not only helps workers reduce living costs but also creates conditions to build community living spaces, cultural and sports activity points.

City trade union levels maintain and improve the operational efficiency of 24 Culture - Sports Clusters of workers, civil servants and laborers, install and effectively put into use 100 Trade Union physical training points in areas with a large number of workers. Hai Phong City Labor Federation also invested in installing free wireless internet access systems in 90 workers' boarding houses, bringing joy to thousands of migrant workers. Mr. Nguyen Van Duc (from Nghe An) who is currently a worker in Do Son Industrial Park shared that since the boarding house was equipped with wireless internet connection supported by Hai Phong City Labor Federation, the spiritual life of workers has become richer, and calls with images asking about families are more frequent and uninterrupted.

According to the city's orientation, in the coming years, taking care of the spiritual and cultural life of workers will continue to be associated with the planning of industrial park, economic zone, urban area and social housing development.

By 2030, the city will also continue to maintain and improve the efficiency of workers' cultural institutions; expand cultural and sports activity points in industrial parks, economic zones and boarding houses. Most enterprises with Trade Union organizations strive to regularly organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities, creating a cohesive working environment and improving the spiritual life of workers. This is also considered an important foundation for Hai Phong to build a modern working class, meeting the development requirements of the city in the new period.
