The urgent need to find practical, effective, and practical solutions
On April 25, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized a workshop on Trade Unions of Industrial Parks (IPs), Export Processing Zones, and Economic Zones of the Southern provinces in 2025 with the theme "Solutions to implement the work of developing union members, establishing grassroots unions and building a team of grassroots union chairmen to enter a new era".
The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, leaders, full-time trade union officials in the Southern region, and representatives of a number of units in the Northern and Central provinces.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province - said that in industrial parks, export processing zones, and economic zones, there are many concentrated laborers, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of localities and the whole country. In recent times, trade unions in the region have made efforts to innovate the content and methods of operation, affirming their role as representatives, caregivers, and protectors of the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
However, before the requirements and challenges of the integration period, the continuous movement of the labor market, the task of implementing the Resolution of the Trade Union Congress at all levels for the term 2023-2028 on promoting the development of union members, establishing grassroots grassroots at enterprises outside the state sector ... requiring together to find practical, creative, effective and practical solutions.
Many solutions are proposed to overcome limitations and difficulties
According to the Binh Duong Industrial Parks Trade Union, one of the biggest difficulties in developing union members is the serious decline in labor resources; recruitment is quite difficult due to competition, the psychology of workers who want to work near their hometown; decrease orders, increase input costs... while the target for developing union members is double compared to 2024.
Difficulties in developing union members also occur in industrial parks in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son said: "Currently, the ratio of the total number of union members to the total number of employees in industrial parks in the area has reached 98%, the rest are mainly workers in newly established enterprises. The locality also aims to focus on enterprises that strongly apply technology, use less labor in production...".
Delegates proposed solutions to implement in the coming time such as: firmly adhering to the highest goal of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights of workers; closely coordinating with all levels and sectors in developing union members and establishing grassroots unions; strengthening propaganda, education, promoting the role of grassroots unions; constantly innovating and creating in organizing and building sustainable labor relations...
At the same time, improve the quality of the grassroots union chairman team through professionalization, standardization, selection, fostering and periodic assessment; create a modern grassroots union ecosystem...
"To bring the union into a new era, it is not only possible to change the slogan, but also change the way of doing things, each union president needs to be like a real representative, a modern leader, a person at the forefront of the workers", Ms. Nguyen Kim Hue - Chairman of the union of Uy Viet Shoes Manufacturing Company Limited - expressed her opinion in the speech.
Concluding the workshop, Mr. Doan Duc Han - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - suggested that the delegates accept the comments contributed at the workshop, consider applying them appropriately to effectively implement, strive to complete the task of developing union members and establishing new grassroots trade unions assigned.
