The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is one of the best foldable phones to come out in years. But it's missing some standout features.
Samsung seems to have a plan to address these concerns. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is thinner and lighter, measuring just 10.6mm thick compared to the Fold 6's 12.1mm.
The weight difference is negligible, only about 3g. The internal and external screens are also slightly larger, at 8 inches and 20:18 aspect ratio.
The phone also comes with 165GB of RAM, which should help improve Galaxy AI performance. Samsung says this change will improve artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. It comes with the familiar Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The most obvious difference in the special edition is the back and camera cluster. The rear glass is designed with stripes, creating an interesting contrast with the familiar flat colors. This version of the Galaxy Z Fold is only available in "Black Shadow".
The camera cluster on the back has a square design with rounded corners. Furthermore, Samsung has equipped this model with a 200MP sensor to take “more vivid and clear” photos.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is currently only available in Korea and a global release is unlikely. The next version of the Z Fold series will likely take some design cues from this version, and we can expect Samsung to launch a thinner model in the Fold 7 series.
