Bluesky has just introduced Attie, a new artificial intelligence integrated application that allows users to design content experiences in their own way.
The noteworthy point is that Attie not only stops at personalization, but also allows users to "program emotions" for their own timeline.
Attie was announced at the ATmosphere 2026 conference held in Vancouver, Canada (4 days, from March 26 to 29, 2026 local time), by Jay Graber - Bluesky Innovation Director and Chief Technology Officer Paul Frazee.
This is an independent application, but built on the AT protocol, which is a decentralized open source platform developed by Bluesky.
Technically, Attie works as a virtual assistant using Anthropic's Claude AI models.
Instead of being dominated by algorithms like on many traditional platforms, users can proactively ask Attie to create content feeds according to their preferences, goals, or emotional states.
With just natural language commands, users can ask the system to display the content they want to see, filter out unwanted topics, or even shape how the information is arranged.
This opens up the possibility that each person owns a completely personalized social network, instead of relying on a common algorithm.
Originating from an internal Twitter project in 2019, Bluesky separated into an independent company in 2021 and has now attracted more than 40 million users, especially after Elon Musk acquired Twitter (now X).
Bluesky's core philosophy is to empower data control and user experience. According to Bluesky, AI should serve people, rather than serve the platform.
Building Attie is a step to realize this goal, when users can directly adjust how information is displayed and spread.
However, Attie's appearance also raises many questions about the future of social networks. As AI and automation agents are increasingly developing, the boundary between content created by humans and machines may become blurred.
At the same time, excessive personalization can cause users to be entangled in information bubbles, only accessing content with the same viewpoint and limiting multi-dimensional perspectives.
Currently, Attie is being released as a limited beta test for ATmosphere conference attendees.
In the future, Bluesky plans to integrate Attie more deeply into its ecosystem, while expanding to other applications using the AT protocol.
The company is also considering business models such as registering for AI services or paid storage for those who want to build their own community.
If widely deployed, Attie could become a turning point, reshaping the way users interact with social networks in the AI era.
