5G mobile network speed is faster but not really smooth
Viettel has just announced the launch of its 5G network, becoming the first enterprise to officially provide 5G services in Vietnam. To experience Viettel's 5G speed, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen (Tay Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) decided to buy a 5G package for 135,000 VND/month, owning 4 GB of 5G high speed every day.
Mr. Nguyen tested the 5G network on Pham Van Bach Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi), the measurement results using the Speed Test application showed that the download speed reached 217 Mbps and the upload speed was 15.1 Mbps. Although the speed was quite impressive, this was still not the speed that Mr. Nguyen expected when testing 5G mobile network data. About 2 hours later, Mr. Nguyen tested the 5G network speed in Ly Thai To Street (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), the 5G network speed was significantly faster than the previous test. This time the download speed was 636 Mbps and the upload speed was 66.8 Mbps.
In recent days, Mr. Nguyen Phuc's phone (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) suddenly caught 5G signal even though he had not registered to use the service package. However, Mr. Phuc said that his initial experience with 5G signal when surfing videos was not smooth.
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Le Song Song Ngoc - CEO of E-Solution Media Joint Stock Company said that currently many devices from many companies support 5G connection such as iPhone from 12 - 16, many iPad tablets, many smartphone models from OPPO (Find N3, Reno 12 5G, A79 5G), Xiaomi (Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G, Xiaomi 14), Vivo 30E, Honor 200 5G... "For businesses, 5G opens up many new development opportunities in areas such as IoT, smart factories, self-driving cars and automated logistics. These technologies help optimize production processes, increase efficiency and improve competitiveness," said Mr. Ngoc.
5G expected to increase labor productivity
Although newly deployed, 5G technology has received many expectations as it is considered one of the pillars of the 4th industrial revolution. In the world, this technology is creating a favorable environment in the process of using online business applications, helping online transactions to be faster.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Duyen Trung - Head of the Department of Communication Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronics, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - said that 5G technology not only helps businesses and state management agencies effectively transform digitally but also promotes green transformation in a sustainable way.
“5G can promote green transformation, because 5G enables the creation of smart energy networks, helping to manage energy use more efficiently as well as make decisions to optimize based on this smart network. For people, 5G can help improve the quality of life through the provision of new services and applications. For example, 5G can be used to improve the quality of education, health care and transportation, help simplify administrative procedures, and provide high-quality online television services. For the economy and society in general, 5G can promote economic growth through the creation of new industries and jobs. Thereby helping to create many high-tech jobs for engineers to maximize the benefits of 5G technology" - Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Duyen Trung said.
Ms. Rita Mokbel - Director of Ericsson Vietnam - said that the main benefits of 5G private networks include increased efficiency, improved productivity, reduced costs and automation. This transformation can attract more foreign direct investment to Vietnam, bringing great opportunities for the country.
According to her, 5G private networks can improve labor productivity, an important goal for Vietnam. For example, Ericsson’s 5G smart factory, powered by 5G and renewable energy, has shown a 120% increase in output per employee and a 65% reduction in manual material management. Therefore, these benefits brought by 5G networks also impact employee productivity, cost reduction and total cost of ownership for businesses.
