Zalo's addition of the screen capture blocking feature for avatars is attracting the attention of many users. Many opinions suggest that this change may contribute to limiting the situation of taking personal photos to impersonate accounts on social networks.
I intended to take a friend's profile picture to send to the chat group, but the application immediately displayed a message: Screenshot is restricted due to privacy and copyright," Ms. Nguyen Minh Anh (Hanoi) shared.
According to Ms. Minh Anh, this change makes her feel more secure when using the application. Previously, she was once taken a profile picture on social networks by strangers to create fake accounts to text and borrow money from acquaintances. "Since that time, I have been very reluctant to leave real photos. If the platform tightens the collection of profile pictures, it will somewhat limit the situation of forgery," she said.
Similarly, Mr. Tran Duc Huy (Hung Yen) said he was quite surprised when he discovered that Zalo had blocked the profile picture feature. According to Mr. Huy, while exchanging work with a new partner, he intended to take a profile picture to save contact information for easy remembering as a habit before. However, as soon as the screenshot operation was performed, the application immediately displayed a notification "Cannot perform the operation".
“Initially, I thought the phone was faulty or the application was lag, so I tried again a few times but still couldn't. Then I realized that Zalo had completely blocked taking avatar photos. I was quite surprised because so few applications have been so aggressive with security features before,” Mr. Huy shared.
Previously, Zalo announced that it had added a feature to prevent screenshots of avatars on phone applications. When users open avatars of other accounts and perform screenshots or screenshots, the system will be able to display a black screen or report errors.
According to Zalo, this feature aims to enhance user privacy. Previously, this platform also did not allow uploading other people's profile photos directly to the device.
However, many users said that this measure is not completely thorough. In some cases, they can still view or download profile pictures when using the Zalo version on the web platform.
A Zalo representative said that security features will continue to be upgraded to bring a better privacy experience to users.
