Comparison of AMOLED, LCD and OLED LTPO screen technology

Cát Tiên (T/H) |

The three popular display technologies today, AMOLED, LCD and OLED LTPO, all have their own advantages and disadvantages.

In the current smartphone market, display technology plays a key role in the user experience.

Among the popular options, AMOLED, LCD and OLED LTPO are three main screens with clear advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right one will help enhance the smartphone experience.

What is the optimal choice?

AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode): Is a popular screen on mid-range to high-end phone lines.

The advantages of AMOLED are brilliant color, high contrast and the ability to display absolute black because each photo point can glow spontaneously.

However, the weakness of this technology is that it is easy to get burned after a long time of use, especially when displaying static images.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display): Although it has somewhat declined in the technology race, this screen is still used in many low-cost and mid-range smartphones.

The advantage of LCD is its low cost, high brightness when used outdoors, and low burning. However, LCD has a narrower viewing angle, and black is less reflective because it requires continuous background lighting.

OLED LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide): An advanced display technology, applied on flagship phones such as the iPhone Pro and Samsung's high-end line.

The outstanding advantage of OLED LTPO is the ability to automatically adjust the scanning frequency from 1Hz to 120Hz, helping to save the battery significantly when displaying static content.

The color and contrast are similar to AMOLED but have superior energy performance.

LTPO is a big step forward in OLED technology. It brings a smooth yet energy-saving experience, something that previous technologies have not been able to do.

Advice

If you prioritize price, LCD is still a stable choice. If you love vivid images, AMOLED is a worth considering choice.

If you want high-performance with optimal battery performance, OLED LTPO is a technology worth investing in, especially for users who regularly use the phone for entertainment, photography and gaming.
