According to Google's e-Conomy SEA Digital Economy Report, Vietnam's digital economy is expected to reach 90 - 200 billion USD by 2030. Recognizing the importance of digital transformation, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo has identified this as the main driving force in the socio-economic development process, aiming to have Vietnam's digital economy account for at least 30% of GDP by 2030 and at least 50% of GDP by 2045.
As the economic center of the country, Ho Chi Minh City is actively implementing policies to support businesses in the digital transformation process, focusing on technology solutions such as blockchain, AI, with the goal of the digital economy contributing 25% of GRDP by 2025 and reaching 40% by 2030.
According to lawyer Phan Vu Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Communications - Electronics Association, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Intellectual Property Association, businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have many opportunities to strongly transform digitally, creating momentum for the development of the digital economy, with support policies from the government.

To implement Resolution 57, Ho Chi Minh City aims to form 5,000 innovative startups; 5 centers for applied research and innovation approaching international standards (CoE) in key areas; promote and support the formation of 5-10 large technology enterprises; human resources for scientific research, technology development, and innovation reach 12 people/10,000 people.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center emphasized the importance of scientific communication, to promote the success of digital transformation in Vietnam, and to bring lessons to Ho Chi Minh City.
He gave data showing that 70% of large-scale digital transformation projects in the world have failed. For Vietnam, the e-Government ranking in 2024 will be 71st, up 15 places compared to 2022, which shows a great contribution of the media.

He cited data showing that the total trading volume of cryptocurrency in Vietnam is up to 800 billion USD/year, much higher than the total trading volume of the stock market. In 2024, Vietnam will be in the Top 4 countries with the highest trading volume on Binance. The transaction volume from Vietnamese investors is estimated at 250 billion USD/year, according to the Wall Street Journal.
