Enterprises proactively apply green technology
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Vo Thanh Dang - General Director of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company (QNS) - said that the circular economic model is being implemented throughout the sugarcane production chain. Processed sugarcane is used as fuel for thermal power plants, with an electricity output of more than 200 million kWh per year. This power source is both used for production and connected to the national grid. QNS is also implementing a plan to increase the capacity of the thermal power system from 95MW to 135MW.
According to Mr. Dang, sugarcane byproducts are continued to be exploited according to a closed cycle. Leachate is used to produce Pethanol for biofuel, while ash and sugarcane waste are used as organic fertilizer for raw material areas. The company assessed that this method helps reduce energy costs and form a circular production cycle.
QNS also applies GPS, GIS systems and coordination software to manage raw material areas, monitor areas and purchasing activities. The research centers under the enterprise apply biotechnology and genetic analysis in selecting sugarcane and soy varieties, serving the goal of increasing productivity and stabilizing the supply chain.
In the energy sector, Mr. Cao Tuan Si - Director of Dung Quat Oil Refinery (BSR) said that the plant is implementing many scientific and technological activities to improve production efficiency and gradually meet the emission reduction target. BSR studies development plans for biofuel, sustainable aviation fuel, low-carbon fuel and recycling solutions to serve clean energy goals.
Mr. Si informed that the factory is applying management systems such as ERP, digital modeling using Digital Twins, big data analysis and artificial intelligence in many stages of operation. The shift from reaction maintenance to predictive maintenance based on sensor data helps reduce downtime and improve energy efficiency. BSR deploys an energy management system according to ISO 5,0001 standards and applies a zero-trust model in cybersecurity.
Recording from QNS and BSR shows that the greening process is being carried out in the direction of taking advantage of by-products, optimizing energy and digitalizing management - creating a foundation for businesses to proactively adapt to environmental requirements.
Policy paving the way for green transformation businesses
Discussing the green transformation orientation, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung commented: Science, technology and innovation play a central role in this process. The Minister emphasized that key tasks include perfecting institutions, developing green energy technology, building a green standard - measurement - quality system, developing a green innovation ecosystem and training human resources in accordance with new requirements.
The Minister said that many areas are prioritized for research and development, including wind energy, solar energy, green hydrogen, energy storage technology and low-carbon production solutions. The emphasized viewpoint is that green and digital must go together, because digital technology plays a role in measuring, monitoring and optimizing energy.
An important content is the requirement to strengthen international cooperation in research and development of green technology.
Along with that, a national standard system for green transformation is being built and expanded, with about 400 standards related to energy, materials and sustainable production. The Minister assessed this as an important basis for businesses to adjust their processes and meet domestic and international environmental requirements.
With the steps of businesses such as QNS and BSR, and policy orientation from management agencies, it can be seen that greening technology is becoming a consistent axis in the current transformation process. The synchronous implementation of energy solutions, governance and circular models not only helps businesses increase production efficiency but also creates a foundation to move towards sustainable development goals.
