At "Newlyweds", Mr. Huynh Tho Hung (49 years old) and Ms. Kim Cuong (32 years old), known to many people by the nickname "couple duet", shared their love story full of ups and downs but also full of sweetness.
According to Mr. Hung's account, the fate came very accidentally. After experiencing an unfinished love affair, he returned to his hometown and continued his singing and dancing work at weddings and live music cafes. In one performance, he saw a young girl standing under the stage.
I found the girl cute, so I asked who she was. Everyone said she knew how to sing, so they invited her to sing a duet," he recalled.
The song that the two performed together that day was "Debt of Destiny". Unexpectedly, the song became the starting point for a love affair lasting more than a decade.
After singing that song, it became a predestined relationship," Mr. Hung said, making the studio burst into laughter.
At the time of meeting, Kim Cuong was only 17 years old. The age gap of up to 17 years caused their love story to face many barriers. She said that from the paternal side to the maternal side, they all strongly opposed it when they knew they were in love with an older man and had been married once.
In general, everyone couldn't bear it. My mother went to the market, listened to people talking and then came back to cry, came back to scold me. I felt sorry for him in tears," Kim Cuong emotionally recounted.
Not only was she prevented by her family, but the gossip from neighbors also put a lot of pressure on those involved. However, Mr. Hung's sincere feelings helped the young girl become more confident.
The climax was when her family wanted her to learn about people with better economic conditions, even considering marrying them to tycoons or overseas Vietnamese. Faced with that pressure, Kim Cuong still maintained her point of view.
I told my mother that if I were greedy for money, I wouldn't have loved Mr. Hung. Since then, my parents haven't said anything anymore," she recalled.
In the early days of dating, the two had to secretly date. Mr. Hung recounted that the first time he took his girlfriend out to play, he even cleverly found a way to make the girl sit closer on the motorbike.
I said, "You sitting far away is very dangerous, you have to hold or hug something. If you don't have seat belts, you tie them for me," he humorously recounted.
Overcoming prejudices and objections, after a while, the couple moved to marriage and have been together for 13 years. Currently, they are building business together and often appear on social networks with duet images.
What moved many viewers the most was the moment Mr. Hung made his unfinished marriage proposal right on the program stage.
Standing in front of MC Hong Van, Quoc Thuan and a large audience, the husband confided: "In the past, I still owed you a marriage proposal. Today I officially propose to you. Marry me, okay?".
When the ring was handed over, Kim Cuong could not hide her happiness and immediately nodded in agreement.
After more than a decade together, the love story that was once opposed due to age difference finally had a happy ending.
