Le Thi Thanh Lien (born in 1993) is a face who played as a libero for Duc Giang Chemical Club. She is also a national athlete, participating in the 31st and 32nd SEA Games. Thanh Lien had applied for a leave from competition in 2023, then returned in the second phase of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship and won the runner-up position with Duc Giang Chemicals.
Thanh Lien's advantage is her good jumping ability and quick reflexes that make her always show herself in saves or attack launches. In particular, she has the ability to handle the ball skillfully with her feet, and has made many spectacular saves with her feet. This helped Thanh Lien be nicknamed "Messi Volleyball Vietnam" by fans.
At the end of the 2024 season, the girl from Nghe An said goodbye to the stadium to switch to youth training for the Duc Giang Chemicals team.
Talking to Lao Dong, Thanh Lien said that her decision was wholeheartedly supported by both families, especially her husband.
"The family always understands my feelings. I am quite lucky to have my husband and both families always support my career. When we stopped competing, my husband and I sat down and talked to each other.
My husband used to be an athlete, so he understands my psychology and always supports me. He said that when I was young, I devoted myself to my passion for volleyball, so now I can retire and take care of my family," Thanh Lien confided.
Thanh Lien's husband is Pham Hong Canh - a former athlete of the canoeing team. Currently, Thanh Lien's partner has moved to coaching and working in Hai Phong. Meanwhile, she coached the Duc Giang Chemicals youth team in Hanoi.
Thanh Lien shared that when she retired and worked as a youth coach, her salary and bonus changed. However, she and her husband are happy, support each other and try every day.
She expressed: "When I was an athlete or switched to youth training, I was still away from home. It's just that now, I have more time to talk to everyone. My wife and I have to live apart so we can only take the opportunity to meet on weekends or holidays.
When I was an athlete, I had better benefits and salaries. When I became a coach, my income was a little more limited. However, this did not affect my life much. When we talked to my husband, we found everything was fine. Therefore, I am currently satisfied with what both husband and wife are trying to do."
