This is the annual film festival of the Goethe Institute in Southeast Asia for contemporary German cinema with special films that will be introduced to the public of the capital within the framework of KinoFest 2025.
More specifically, this year's film festival is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam. Accordingly, KinoFest 2025 will expand the scale of film screenings across Vietnam - from Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Da Lat to new locations such as Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Da Nang.

The 2025 version not only brings German cinema closer to Vietnamese audiences, but also honors the creative spirit and is an opportunity to honor young Vietnamese and German filmmakers - those who are contributing to shaping a lively dialogue between the two film cultures.
Selected from the latest German film collection, this year's program brings diverse films, ranging from drama, family, animation, adventure to documentary films - works that are both realistic and mysterious, rich in creativity and imagination.
KinoFest 2025 also promises to bring films with diverse styles and forms, while reflecting many aspects of contemporary social reality in Germany. The films selected are suitable for all ages and encourage viewers to explore many new perspectives through the lens of cinema.

In Hanoi, the opening ceremony will officially take place at 6:00 p.m. on October 30 at the National Cinema Center (NCC) with the film "Roter Himmel". The film has received many nominations and awards both in Germany and internationally, most notably the Silver bear Award - Grand Jury Prize at the Berlinale Film Festival 2023.
