On July 22, YTN reported that idol singer Jeongyeon of TWICE has been chosen to participate in an upcoming movie called The Recruit: The Movie.
Jeongyeon was offered the role of a female military nurse, marking her first step in her acting career after nearly 10 years of debut as a Kpop idol.
The Recruit: The Movie is the feature film version of the famous TV series The Recruit, revolving around surreal stories but also full of humor about the life of the Korean military.
Since the release of part 1 in 2022, the film has attracted a large number of fans and the release of part 3 in April 2025.
Unlike the original series that focused on life in a military unit, this full-scale feature film will revolve around a military hospital.
The script is currently being finalized and is expected to start filming at the end of this year. Jeongyeon is said to be adjusting her schedule in the TWICE group to prepare for filming.
She is the second member of the TWICE group to enter the acting field. Previously, member Dahyun tried her hand at acting through the female lead role in the Korean version of the movie You Are the Apple of My Eye - a remake of the famous Taiwanese (Chinese) original.
Jeongyeon debuted as a member of the girl group TWICE in 2015. The group has released a series of hit songs including "CHEER UP", "FANCY", "TT", "Dance The Night Away"..., becoming one of the most famous girl groups in Korea and internationally.
TWICE has just returned on July 11 with their 4th studio album "This is For" and is currently holding their 6th world tour.
The group is also expected to perform as a headlining artist at Lollapalooza Chicago - one of the largest music festivals in the US.
