In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM) mainly agreed to use a combined admission method, combining many criteria such as high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exam results and other learning evidence.
At the University of Information Technology, candidates applying for training majors using admission combinations with English subjects are required to take the high school graduation exam in English. The school does not convert foreign language certificates used to exempt from the high school graduation exam into foreign language scores used for admission.
However, the school stipulates a maximum of 5 points for candidates with international foreign language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, JLPT), meeting the conditions:

Meanwhile, the University of Economics and Law announced adding 2-5 points for candidates with international English certificates. In which, for IELTS 5.0 add 2 points; 5.5 add 3.5 points and from 6.0 add 5 points.
The University of Health Sciences stipulates that points are added to candidates with IELTS ≥ 6.0, TOEFL iBT ≥ 79, TOEFL ITP ≥ 550, TOEIC (Listening, Reading ≥ 671, Speech, Writing ≥ 271), VSTEP Level 4.
And the University of Science accepts conversion with some valid international English certificates.
In which, the IELTS certificate is converted to a high school graduation exam score in English from 4.5.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology stipulates that candidates with English certificates (CCTA) IELTS Academic ≥ 6.0/TOEFL iBT ≥ 60/TOEIC Listening - Reading ≥ 570 and Speech - Writing ≥ 310/PTE Academic ≥ 47 will be converted to English subject scores in the high school graduation exam scores for admission combinations using English (scoring 10).
In which, for the IELTS certificate, the 7.0 level is converted to 8 points in English in the high school graduation exam; 6.5 is converted to 8.5 points; 7.0 to 9 points; 7.5 to 9.5 points; and from 8.0 or higher is converted to 10 points.

According to the university admission regulations for 2026, candidates who have converted their foreign language certificates will not receive bonus points and vice versa.
