The entrance exam for grade 10 public high school in the 2025-2026 school year in the city took place on June 7 and 8 with nearly 103,000 candidates taking the exam.
This is the first year that students have taken the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, so the exam has many changes.
Students applying for grade 10 admission to public high schools without major in taking exams in 3 subjects: Literature, Math, Foreign Language. In which, Literature and Math are taken in the form of an essay test, Foreign language is taken in an objective multiple-choice test. The scores of each test are calculated on a scale of 10.
The exam consists of questions that are consistent with the requirements of the subject and the goals of the junior high school level under the 2018 General Education Program, mainly in the 9th grade program at the junior high school level.
For candidates applying for grade 10 admission to specialized high schools, in addition to this exam, candidates will take additional exams in specialized subjects.
One of the notable new points in this year's 10th grade admission exam is the adjustment of the admission score calculation method.
Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for Math and Literature as in previous years; in 2025, the admission score will be the total score of 3 subjects (Math, Literature, Foreign Language), each subject is calculated on a scale of 10 and not multiplied by coefficient. This calculation method aims to ensure fairness between subjects, encouraging students to study all subjects equally.
The formula for calculating admission scores (DXT) for grade 10 non-professional public high school in Hanoi in 2025 is as follows:
dXT = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
It is expected that tomorrow afternoon, July 4, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.
