Shortage of 20 secondary school teachers
According to information from the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son province, 4 boarding primary and secondary schools were established in Kien Moc, Khuat Xa, Mau Son and Quoc Khanh communes on the basis of rearranging existing educational institutions.
Schools have the task of teaching two levels of education, and at the same time organizing meals, accommodation, and care for boarding and semi-boarding students. This model is expected to help ethnic minority students, remote and isolated areas, and border areas study in a stable and safe environment.
According to the project, the four schools have a total scale of 138 classes, 4,705 students. By the end of July, the schools had enrolled 4,542 students.
Mau Son School enrolls 1,260 students, divided into 36 classes. Khuat Xa has 1,184 students, reaching 96.26% of the target; Quoc Khanh has 1,155 students, reaching 97.05%; Kien Moc enrolls 943 students, reaching 92% of the plan and reducing one class compared to the plan.
Explaining the reason, leaders of Lang Son Department of Education and Training said that the number of students who have not reached the target is mainly concentrated at the primary school level. A part of parents are still concerned when letting 1st and 2nd grade children study and live away from their families.
Kien Moc commune has a large area and difficult transportation, so the mobilization of students has not reached the plan.
Localities are continuing to review, propagate and mobilize parents before the opening day. For young students who are boarding for the first time, the school plans to strengthen management, guide living skills and self-service," said the leader of Lang Son Department of Education and Training.
Also according to information from the unit, each school has been arranged from 4 to 5 vice principals, of which one person is assigned to be in charge of administration while waiting for the appointment of the principal.
The primary school teaching staff basically meets the requirements, but four schools are still short of a total of 20 secondary school teachers according to the subject structure. Quoc Khanh is short of 10 teachers; Khuat Xa is short of 7 teachers in Math, Literature, Chemistry, Geography and History; Mau Son is short of 2 teachers; Kien Moc is short of one Physics teacher.
The greater difficulty lies in the force serving boarding activities. Due to not being fully assigned labor contract targets for support, many schools cannot recruit nursing staff, cleaning staff and some other positions.
Khuat Xa School needs 27 cooks but has not yet arranged anyone. Kien Moc is also short of 16 cooks and 4 janitors. This situation directly affects the organization of collective kitchens, management and care for students outside of school hours.
Many items are still unfinished
The total investment of the four projects is more than 1,408 billion VND. In which, Mau Son and Quoc Khanh schools have an investment of more than 390 billion VND each; Kien Moc nearly 345 billion VND; Khuat Xa more than 283 billion VND.
In Mau Son, the classroom block reached 80%, the dormitory 70%, the dining hall 75%, but the multi-purpose building only reached 50%, the yard and fence reached 25%. The transformer substation has not been installed.
Items in Quoc Khanh reached from 55% to 80%. Khuat Xa has completed about 80% of classrooms and dormitories, while the dining hall, multi-purpose house and technical systems reached about 60%.
Kien Moc has a lower progress, with classrooms reaching 51%, dormitories 45%, yards and roads and fences 30%. Some items of the school are expected to be completed on August 30, close to the trial operation time.
Units set a target to hand over some items from mid-August. Teaching equipment, bunk beds, personal cabinets, dining equipment and computers are expected to be installed before August 30.
At the end of August, schools will conduct trial operations to receive students, organize accommodation, use electricity and water, fire prevention and fighting, and boarding management. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 5, and some schools may combine the organization of the inauguration ceremony.
