Actively prepare
At Chu Van An Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Tra Tap Commune), nearly 500 students - more than 98% of whom are ethnic minority children - are eagerly waiting for the school day. The concern of teacher shortage that has lasted for many years has been resolved when the school promptly signed 7 more teachers, ensuring 2 teaching sessions/day.
Mr. Truong Cong Mot - Principal of the school shared: "We have developed an education plan in accordance with the industry's instructions, and at the same time adjusted the language to suit the reality of local government at both levels. This is an important preparation step for them to enter the new school year smoothly".
Not only within the scope of the school, the preparation work also received support from local authorities.
In Tra Tap commune, the Public Administration Center coordinates with relevant sectors to support parents in completing school registration procedures right in the commune, helping to minimize hardship travel.
Mr. Nguyen Do Tri - Deputy Director of the Center said: "There are villages dozens of kilometers away, so we make records instead, send results to the location, helping people save time and effort".
In Nam Tra My commune, Kim Dong Primary School this year, in addition to supplementing facilities, also focuses on developing life skills and self-study ability for students through clubs and digital data warehouses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc - Principal of the school - shared: "The school has advised on building a multi-purpose house, a soccer field, creating a safe space for children to play, so that they can study and exercise physically".
Investing 740 billion VND to build boarding schools in 6 border communes
In the 2 years of 2025 - 2026, Da Nang city will spend about 740 billion VND to build a solid and modern system of ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools in 6 border communes, in order to thoroughly resolve the situation of degraded facilities and ensure fair learning opportunities for students in mountainous areas.
On August 19, the Tay Giang Primary and Secondary Boarding and Boarding School project officially kicked off. With a total cost of 262 billion VND, the project has a scale of 30 classrooms, 14 department rooms, a multi-purpose house, a sports field, a dormitory and a public house for teachers, expected to be completed in August 2026, in time to serve the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Tay Giang Commune Party Secretary Bling Mia shared that for many years, the rugged terrain in the border mountainous areas of Da Nang has been a major barrier to education. Students have to walk dozens of kilometers through mountain slopes and deep streams. During the rainy season, many routes have landslides, and school attendance is often interrupted. Teachers often have to carry students across the stream. Deteriorated facilities, lack of dining facilities, dormitories, functional rooms... pose a potential risk of insecurity.
The groundbreaking of the construction of boarding schools has important political significance, concretizing the Politburo's policy on investing in schools for border communes, opening up better learning opportunities for children in mountainous areas - Mr. Bling Mia emphasized.
Trust in a new start
According to Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang: "Schools in 6 border communes do not meet the minimum material standards as prescribed. The city needs to build 4 new schools in Hung Son, Tay Giang, La De, Dac Pring; build 2 schools in La Ai and A Vuong on the foundation of old schools with a total cost of 740 billion VND".
In phase 1, the project will be prioritized for implementation in La Ai, Dac Pring and Hung Son with a budget of more than 400 billion VND. Each project is expected to serve 300 - 600 boarding students, both meeting their learning needs and integrating storm shelter and evacuation functions when natural disasters occur.
At the surveys, the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City requested communes to take advantage of the weather, increase human resources to speed up progress; and at the same time, have specific mechanisms to solve difficulties in land and lack of construction materials.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang emphasized: Investing in school construction in border communes is a policy to concretize the task of developing education in remote areas, contributing to raising people's knowledge and ensuring social security. The city will be determined to implement it quickly and effectively, so that students in mountainous areas can study in the best conditions".
