On October 31, the Ministry of Education and Training held a conference to summarize the organization of the high school graduation exam for the period 2020 - 2024 and prepare for the high school graduation exam from 2025.
Regarding the information about the High School Graduation Exam from 2025, the representative of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training said that each candidate will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects: Literature, Mathematics and 2 subjects that candidates choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 (foreign language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Agricultural Technology, Industrial Technology).
In the 2025 - 2030 period, the exam format will maintain the paper-based exam method; at the same time, the application of information technology in all stages of the exam will be enhanced.
After 2030, gradually pilot computer-based exams in qualified localities (can combine paper-based and computer-based exams). Strive to switch to computer-based high school graduation exams for multiple-choice subjects when all localities nationwide have the conditions to organize computer-based exams.
During the implementation process, depending on actual conditions, adjustments can be made to ensure suitability with the country's economic and social context.
Regarding admission based on high school graduation exam results and exams in line with the 2018 general education program, the Ministry of Education and Training will have solutions to ensure fairness in using high school graduation exam scores for admission (if using multiple subject combinations - admission combinations - for admission to the same major).
Regarding the competency assessment exams, thinking assessment exams, etc. organized by educational institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training promulgates specific regulations on state management in the Admissions Regulations to ensure the inspection and supervision of exam quality.
In particular, the process of building a question bank is required; the test questions must not exceed the 2018 General Education Program so that students do not have to review for separate exams, which can disrupt teaching and learning in general schools.
The exam organization process ensures uniform safety and avoids many forms that make it difficult for students to review for the exam; currently, each school is using a different form.
At the same time, it is proposed that the announcement of early admission results should be made after the end of the program and school year plan, which is May 31 every year.
