Parents self-funded testing, found pork contaminated with E. coli and African cholera
At Hoa Binh Kindergarten (Van Lang commune, Thai Nguyen), many parents were worried when they discovered that pork in the semi-boarding meal showed signs of abnormality from March 25. Due to the lack of official conclusions, a series of families have let their children take long days off from school, causing a sharp decrease in the number of students going to school.

Faced with anxiety, parents contributed money to send meat samples for testing and received results that samples were positive for E. coli bacteria and African swine fever virus. This increased concerns about food safety, while the school said it had sent samples for testing but there were no official results yet.
Immediately after the incident, the school temporarily stopped using pork, and local authorities requested to seal samples, check supply sources and organize dialogues with parents to stabilize the situation. Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training talks about the case of diseased pork being smuggled into school meals
After the discovery of nearly 300 tons of diseased pork being smuggled into the market, including the risk of entering school kitchens, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has requested localities and schools to urgently review and quickly report on the food safety situation. The Director of the Department emphasized that this is an issue that greatly affects public opinion and requested to tighten the responsibility for managing semi-boarding meals.
Through initial review, the unit providing meals for about 90 schools in Hanoi said that there are 2 schools related to food sources from Cuong Phat Food Co., Ltd. The enterprise affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with functional agencies to inspect and trace the origin of shipments in the past time and clarify product quality.
While waiting for official conclusions, the enterprise has provided relevant documents and proactively requested a comprehensive inspection. If unsafe risks are detected, the unit commits to coordinate with the health sector to check students' health, while enhancing information transparency and closely coordinating with schools, parents and functional agencies. Ministry of Education and Training seeks opinions on new national school standards
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just announced a draft Circular regulating the assurance of education quality and recognition of national standards for preschool education institutions, general education institutions and continuing education institutions; posted on the Ministry's Electronic Information Portal for agencies, organizations, and individuals to study and contribute opinions. The draft Circular aims to concretize the provisions of Article 110 of the Education Law.
The Ministry of Education and Training said that the draft builds a framework of requirements to ensure unified quality of education applied to many types of educational institutions, including preschool education institutions, general education institutions, continuing education centers and vocational education - continuing education centers.
This framework is designed on the basis of standardizing current regulations, contributing to ensuring uniformity in management, while creating conditions for educational institutions to proactively self-assess and improve quality in accordance with actual conditions. See more...
