On August 24, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2133 approving the project to organize and operate boarding schools in the province.
According to the project, 7 land border communes under the construction scope of inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools include Son Kim 1, Son Kim 2, Son Hong, Huong Khe, Huong Xuan, Huong Binh and Vu Quang.
According to the roadmap, Son Kim 1 Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School and Huong Khe Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School will go into operation from the 2026 - 2027 school year.
In the first school year, the 2 schools are expected to have a total scale of 75 classes with 2,881 students.
To ensure operating conditions, localities and schools must complete facilities; arrange boarding accommodation, personal belongings, and school supplies; and at the same time develop education and teaching plans, organize semi-boarding, boarding and educational activities before receiving students.
By the 2027 - 2028 school year, 5 inter-level boarding schools in Huong Xuan, Huong Binh, Son Kim 2, Son Hong and Vu Quang communes are expected to be completed, handed over and put into use.
When 7 schools operate together, the entire system is expected to have 217 classes with 7,604 students. The enrollment scale will be reviewed and adjusted annually based on forecasts and actual situation.
The enrollment subjects are students of the prescribed age, permanently residing in the border commune where the school is headquartered or adjacent border communes. Children of cadres, civil servants, public employees and armed forces working in border communes are also eligible for enrollment.
The Department of Education and Training is responsible for guiding the registration, development of criteria for enrollment of boarding and semi-boarding students and approving the enrollment results according to regulations. The enrollment of boarding primary school students from grades 1 to 3 will be decided by the Provincial People's Committee based on actual conditions.
The project also requires schools to develop boarding and semi-boarding organization plans suitable to the scale and actual needs; ensuring conditions for eating, living, living, care, management and safety for students.
School health work, health care, disease prevention and control, first aid, nutrition, food safety, clean water and environmental sanitation are also emphasized.
The formation of a system of 7 boarding general schools in border communes is expected to create better conditions for students to study and live; contributing to improving the quality of education, ensuring social security, national defense, security and promoting sustainable development in border areas.
