For many students in mountainous provinces, especially in disadvantaged economic regions, the C00 (Literature, History, Geography) combination has long been a popular and suitable choice. The reason is that the actual learning conditions of students with natural science subjects, foreign languages... cannot be fully met and invested like students in the provinces and cities below.
However, the sudden changes of some universities in this year's admission season are putting students in a difficult position.
Talking to Lao Dong, Nguyen Duc Tuan - Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Dien Bien province could not hide his regret and worry.
I feel quite regretful that Hanoi Procuracy has abandoned the C00 complex, because that is the group that I am focusing on pursuing to be able to enter the school. As soon as I heard the change, I quickly changed the route, moving from the C00 combination to the C03 review (Literature, History, Math) - Tuan said.
The pressure is multiplied when the exam is only calculated in days. "I was quite pressured when I had to review so quickly, especially during the final stage. But thanks to the encouragement from teachers and friends, I have also reduced some" - Tuan added.
Sharing the same sentiment, Lo Thi Khanh Linh - Phan Dinh Giot High School, Dien Bien province said that the information that some universities do not consider admission for the C00 combination made her quite surprised.
"Because from the beginning, I have determined to review and take the C00 combination exam to consider admission to the school I want. Everything seems to have been planned, no one predicted this change. We felt like we were deprived of our opportunities, Linh said.
Although after a few days of announcing that they would not enroll in the C00 group, many schools have now re-admitted this group. However, after the recent "shock", many students are still worried.

Not only students, but teachers are also surprised by this change. Ms. Do Thi Van - Geography teacher, Luong The Vinh High School said: "Sudden changes will cause great disadvantages for students and parents.
Ms. Do Thi Van said that according to the 2018 General Education Program, students and their families have had to carefully choose a combination of subjects and career orientation right from the beginning of high school.
"The fact that some universities change their admission plans when candidates are almost finished with their review content has confused them. The future of students depends a lot on choosing a school, which can cost students the opportunity" - Ms. Van said.
On the morning of June 10, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, teacher Nguyen Van Tap - Principal of Nam Po District Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities said: "The fact that universities have suddenly abandoned the admission of the C00 combination will greatly affect the university exam results of students, especially students in mountainous areas".
According to Mr. Tap, at the school every year, about 70% of students choose the C00 combination. At other high schools in mountainous areas, the rate of students choosing the C00 combination is even higher, some schools over 80%.
According to PV's research, in the upcoming high school graduation exam, the whole province of Dien Bien will have 7,641 candidates registered to take the exam, an increase of 956 students compared to 2024 (7,030 candidates taking the exam under the 2018 General Education Program).
In response to widespread reactions to schools changing their university admission plans, on June 6, the Ministry of Education and Training issued an official dispatch requesting all universities to review admission methods and combinations, ensuring fairness, transparency and a clear explanation of changes in admission.
