As Lao Dong reported, in late July and early August, floods caused severe damage to many localities in Dien Bien province, in which the education sector was significantly affected. A series of schools were deeply flooded, and facilities were damaged.
At Chieng So Boarding Ethnic Minority Secondary School, Muong Luan Commune, Dien Bien Province, floodwaters caused severe damage (August 1). Almost all facilities and teaching and learning equipment were completely damaged.

To ensure the opening day is still complete and safe, the local government and the school's Board of Directors decided to organize the opening ceremony at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Muong Luan commune (old Chieng So commune headquarters).
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hy - Principal of the school, said: "The whole school has about 530 students, of which over 300 are boarding students. By the afternoon of September 4, all preparations for the opening day had been completed".
To prepare for the new school year, teachers have made many times more efforts. Not only did the teachers arrange a place to eat and live for the students, they also cleaned and decorated the opening ceremony to be more solemn and meaningful.

Luong Van Nguyen (class 9A3, Xinh Mun ethnic group) said: "My students and I are very excited before the opening ceremony. We are very happy to go to school, meet teachers and friends again. Nguyen's joy is also the common sentiment of hundreds of students here.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, when the flood passed (August 1), Chieng So Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities had a crack about 20cm wide and up to 50m long, posing a potential risk of landslides.

The school's principal said: "Because 6 2-storey classrooms are located near the foot of the hill with large cracks, to ensure absolute safety for students, we have to relocate the classrooms."
Accordingly, the school moved the classes to the headquarters of Muong Luan commune (old Chieng So commune headquarters). The local government also quickly repaired the cultural house, gymnasium, hall, and office of the Commune People's Committee into 6 classrooms.
