The major is thirsty for human resources, graduates almost immediately have jobs

ANH ĐỨC |

The demand for human resources in the fields of engineering, geology, mineral exploitation,... is increasing. Graduates of these majors have wide open job opportunities.

Wide open opportunities for students

In the context of Vietnam promoting industrial development, infrastructure and efficient exploitation of resources, the demand for human resources in the fields of engineering, energy and mining is increasing sharply. These are fields that play an important role in the country's economic and production development process.

To meet that need, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Ha, Head of Corporate Public Relations Department, University of Mining and Geology, training majors such as Mining, Geology, Oil and Gas, Electrical Engineering or Geodesy - Cartography,... are in need of large human resources. These training majors directly serve important material production fields such as coal mining, minerals, rare earths, titanium and many other strategic resources.

According to Mr. Ha, many corporations and general corporations in the fields of energy and mining have proactively coordinated with training institutions to find quality human resources. Some corporations invest, award scholarships, support training for students and commit to recruiting after graduation.

Thanks to the large demand for human resources, students studying engineering in this field often have quite wide open job opportunities after graduation.

Statistics at the University of Mining and Geology show that about 98 - 99% of students have jobs after graduation. Even many students are recruited by businesses right from the time of defending their graduation thesis" - Mr. Ha informed.

In addition, engineering, energy, and mining industries are also currently associated with new technology trends such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), robots, and geographic information systems (GIS). This opens up more job opportunities for students when they are trained to meet the requirements while still in school.

University of Mining and Geology maintains stable enrollment

Providing information about the university enrollment plan for 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Ha said that the University of Mining and Geology continues to maintain stable admission methods.

This year, the school enrolls 48 training majors, focusing on groups of fields such as engineering - technology, economics and some social sciences. Many training majors are associated with important development fields of the country such as rare earth exploitation, offshore exploitation, subway or geographic information systems (GIS).

The school opened a major in Materials Engineering, serving the research and exploitation needs of new types of minerals, especially rare earths.

Regarding the enrollment method, the school continues to maintain 5 admission methods, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In which, the high school transcript review method is adjusted according to new regulations, using the academic results of 6 semesters instead of 3-4 semesters as before.

According to the school representative, some adjustments according to the new admission regulations almost do not affect the admission opportunities of candidates. For example, with the Ministry of Education and Training's regulation limiting 15 admission aspirations, according to the school's survey, the proportion of candidates admitted in low aspirations (from aspiration 10 and below) accounts for less than 1%.

Giving advice to candidates in this year's enrollment season, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Ha said that the choice of major should be based on personal abilities, interests and needs of society.

Candidates should choose a major that suits their abilities and long-term desires, and should not follow trends or choose according to the majority. At the same time, it is also necessary to consider factors such as learning conditions, tuition fees, geographical distance and school support policies" - Mr. Ha said.
