Proactively reviewing and preparing facilities for the new school year
Ms. Lieu Thi Kham - Principal of Trang Phai Primary and Secondary School (Lang Son) shared that up to now, the school's preparation work on facilities, personnel, expertise... has been basically completed, ready for the new school year 2025 - 2026.
"We have reviewed, repaired, and replaced broken tables and chairs, equipment, and replaced signs... The school has also directed the professional skills of the two levels of education, reviewed, and developed an educational plan for the school and each subject" - Ms. Kham said.
With a scale of nearly 500 students at both levels, Trang Phai Primary and Secondary School still lacks 4 teachers for the new school year 2025 - 2026, including: 1 Natural Science teacher, 1 Math teacher, 1 English teacher, 1 primary school teacher.
"The Department of Education and Training has assigned the target of recruiting contract teachers. The Commune Culture Department directs the school to receive and introduce candidates in need, submit documents to the department for distribution to schools. According to the response, there are about 10 records, but teachers of IT and English are very rare, currently no English teacher has signed a contract. If they cannot recruit, the school will reduce the concurrent work of main teachers, giving priority to them to teach the lessons according to regulations, avoiding overload" - Ms. Kham said.
In Son La province, Chieng Noi Primary School is one of the schools most affected by storm No. 2 in mid-July last year.
According to Chieng Noi Primary School, floods and rains have killed 2 students (landlides) in Hua Pu village; damaged 19 classrooms, functional rooms, collective housing, and boarding houses for students. More than 200m of the fence around the school collapsed and was completely damaged. Teaching and learning equipment (computers, textbooks, library books, library book prices, ...) at the central school were damaged, ...
Mr. Ha Cong Minh - Principal of the school - said that in recent days, many organizations, individuals and people have worked with the school's teachers and students to overcome the consequences. As a result, by May 2025, the school's facilities had been renovated, and the school had achieved recognition as a national standard at level 1.
Currently, this school has completed the first-level admission work. The total number of students in the whole school is about 735.
Regarding the teaching staff, there is currently a shortage of 3 positions. 1 IT teacher, Fine Arts teacher, Music teacher. The school principal said that he had proposed to the commune cultural department and the Department of Home Affairs to recruit additional teachers who were still lacking.
"If there are no teachers in the new school year, we will have to send teachers to teach part-time" - Mr. Minh said.
Step by step to overcome the shortage of schools
Lack of teachers, lack of schools - this is not a story that happens at 1 or 2 schools, but a common problem for the entire education sector before the new school year 2025 - 2026.

In addition, there is still a phenomenon of local shortage of classrooms in areas with high population density, mountainous areas, remote areas, and areas with special difficulties.
According to the local report, at the preschool level, there is a shortage of about 27,953 classrooms and at the primary level, there is a shortage of about 7,491 classrooms to reach the ratio of 1 class/room, meeting the requirement of 2 sessions/day, not including the number of classes and classrooms to ensure the number of students/class according to regulations.
In areas with particularly difficult economic conditions, there are still 6,477 rented and borrowed classrooms, mainly concentrated in preschool and primary school.
In that context, the education sector sets many tasks, including prioritizing resources to build and expand the network of schools, gradually solving the shortage of educational institutions.
Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training - said: In the 2024 - 2025 school year, Hanoi City has built 43 new schools, initially meeting the shortage of schools in the area.
From the 2025 - 2026 school year, Hanoi will have 2 more public high schools in operation. These are Phuc Thinh High School (Phuc Thinh Commune) and Do Muoi High School (Yen So Ward). Currently, these two projects are rushing to complete the final stages to put into use right for the 2025 - 2026 school year, while the enrollment work has been completed with nearly 1,000 classes for students.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Director of the city's Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu said that the city currently has a scale of more than 2.6 million students.
