Pham Thai Tra My is currently a 12th grade student at Singapore International School. She is ranked "Top in World" in Sociology.
AS Level is the first year of A-Level - the final level in the international general education program for 16-19 year old students of the University of Cambridge International Examinations (UK). Students choose 3-4 subjects depending on their orientation and take exams to obtain certificates, which are used to apply for admission to universities in Australia, Canada, Europe, Singapore...
Tra My shared that at first, she encountered many difficulties with Sociology because the number of required essays and assessments was very large. Teachers were the ones who motivated her a lot so that her love for the subject grew day by day.
“I considered changing my subject choice a few times in the beginning as it did not interest me. However, over the years, with the constant support from my teachers, I began to see the opportunities with Sociology and its skills for my future. This helped me discover my love for social sciences so that I could put my best efforts into my studies,” the student said.
In addition to studying, Tra My is also very active in extracurricular activities and holds the position of Head of the Yearbook Club Design Committee and Vice President of the Student Council.

Being punctual but also creative, she enjoys taking on leadership and management roles. During her time as Head of the Yearbook Club Design Department and Vice President of the Senior Student Council, she further developed her leadership and teamwork skills, pursued her own interests in the Arts, and actively helped other students succeed.
Sharing about her learning and training process, Tra My said, perseverance is a virtue that she is very proud of.
"By studying persistently, I have developed a passion for subjects that I never expected to love, including Sociology," said Tra My.
Mr. Pham Thanh Nam, Tra My's father, shared his joy and pride in his daughter's achievements.
Mr. Nam shared that Tra My has an older sister who is currently studying Pharmacy at the University of Melbourne (Australia). During high school, Tra My's older sister was always among the top students with the best results. This is the motivation for Tra My to try hard in her studies.
"Since I was little, I chose and decided on my studies. My family always supported my passion and interests," said Mr. Nam.
Sharing about her future plans, Tra My said that she wants to pursue Sociology and Psychology at university and this award has motivated her to take the next step in in-depth research in her favorite field.
