Study tips to get 2 bachelor's degrees at the same time
Van Anh is one of 112 students of the International Training Institute - Academy of Finance. The female student received 2 university degrees and the title of valedictorian of the entire class this year.
DDP (Dual Degree Programme) is a 4-year full-time undergraduate training program of the Academy of Finance in association with the University of Greenwich (UK), each side providing 1 bachelor's degree.
Graduates will be awarded two university degrees at the same time: Bachelor of Finance - Banking awarded by the Academy of Finance and Bachelor of Arts in Accounting & Finance awarded by the University of Greenwich.
“I never thought I would be the valedictorian. When my friends told me, I was skeptical. Only when my teachers officially informed me did I believe it was true and immediately called my parents to tell them the news,” Van Anh recalled the moment she received the news that she was the valedictorian this year.
Since her high school years, Van Anh realized that she had outstanding strengths in Mathematics, so she decided to choose a major related to data and calculations. This is the reason why she chose the Academy of Finance.
Entering her first year of university, the female student had difficulty studying general subjects - subjects that were not her strengths.
But only in the second year, when she started studying specialized subjects, Van Anh developed her strengths in Math and English, maintaining her academic achievements.
“During the learning process, I synthesize the knowledge I have learned in the form of a mind map. For calculation subjects, I will do the workbook compiled by my teachers over and over again.
In addition, I find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time. For example, I will be attracted to studying, so I think of a way to invite a group of friends to maintain studying. The whole group sitting and studying together will create a serious atmosphere and when I see my friends concentrating on studying, I will also remind myself not to do my own work or be distracted. I find this method helps me study more effectively" - Van Anh shares her study tips.
In the 4 years of study, the final year is the most stressful time for Van Anh. She has to participate in an internship and complete her thesis, meeting the strict standards of the Academy of Finance as well as the University of Greenwich.
"The training program at Greenwich University is quite heavy on plagiarism. Therefore, in order to graduate on time, we have to focus on studying and often have to stay up until 2-3 am. There were times when I felt exhausted, but in return, today's results make me happy and relieved.
My achievements, in addition to self-study and effort, are also thanks to the learning environment at the International Training Institute. Teachers are always dedicated, creating conditions for students to maximize their abilities, creativity and confidence" - Van Anh shared.
Decided to study abroad in a different field
After receiving two bachelor's degrees in economics, Van Anh is completing her application to study abroad for a Master's degree in Information Technology. Anyone who hears Van Anh share about this plan will be surprised, but the female student says this is part of her future plan.
“I want to experience working in the field of data science or data analytics. These are jobs that require both economic - financial and information technology knowledge,” Van Anh said, adding that her decision was advised by her brother, a former student of Bach Khoa and valedictorian of the master's program at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
"I always consider my brother's achievements as an example for me to strive for" - Van Anh expressed.
Currently, the valedictorian of the International Training Institute, Academy of Finance has submitted her application to 4 universities around the world, waiting for approval of her application and suitable scholarship. Van Anh plans to work abroad for a while after graduating with her master's degree to gain practical experience before returning to Vietnam.
“The experiences in an international environment not only help me study but also create a competitive advantage when I return to Vietnam,” Van Anh shared.
