According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), the Math exam is within the scope of the 2018 General Education Program for secondary school level, including knowledge circuits: Numbers and Algebra; Geometry and Measurement; Statistics and Probability.
The exam questions aim to assess students' mathematical abilities such as mathematical thinking and reasoning, problem solving and mathematical modeling. The test content requires candidates to apply the knowledge they have learned to solve practical problems, and at the same time encourage self-study, creativity, and limit rote learning.
According to the announced exam structure, Mathematics subject includes 7 papers, total score 10, exam time 120 minutes.
On the first exam day (June 1), Literature subject recorded 603/151,557 absent candidates, accounting for 0.39%; Foreign Language subject had 611 absent candidates, equivalent to 0.4%.
Some exam sites recorded cases of candidates encountering health problems during the exam, requiring support at the medical room for 5-10 minutes. Exam sites have made records of abnormal incidents according to regulations, but candidates are not allowed to add exam time.
At another exam site, there were cases where candidates used hearing aids without prior notice; after making a record, the exam council still allowed continued use and requested supplementation of the disability certificate dossier.
At the exam site of Kien Thiet Secondary School (Ban Co ward), a candidate showed signs of instability in the exam room, affecting the exam room order. The exam site made a record and invited parents to work, through verification, the candidate had intellectual problems but had not completed the procedures for disability certification.
In the organizational work, some exam sites discovered that the exam questions had lost letters on pages 2 and 3, promptly used backup questions and made a record of incidents.
The first exam day also recorded 2 cases of violations of exam regulations: one case in the morning and one case in the afternoon due to using materials in the exam room.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2026-2027 school year takes place in 2 days, June 1 and 2, with more than 151,000 candidates taking the exam. Public high schools in the city recruit about 118,500 students into 10th grade, equivalent to about 78% of candidates taking the exam have a chance of passing.
Candidates take exams in three subjects: Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language. Those who register for specialized or integrated classes will take additional specialized or integrated subjects accordingly this afternoon (June 2).
This year, the exam is organized at 242 exam sites, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites, with a total of 6,443 exam rooms. The city's education sector mobilized more than 17,700 teachers, staff and officials to participate in exam supervision and service.
