The Vietnam Seed Fund and Techcombank will implement a "Vietnam Seed" scholarship awarding project for three years, with a total amount of 1.5 billion VND in 6 northern border provinces.
This year is the first year that the Fund has awarded scholarships to new students from poor ethnic households with few admission scores to universities and colleges in Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces. This time, the Fund awarded scholarships to 25 new poor students who have overcome difficulties, each scholarship worth 10 million VND.
The Vietnam Seed Fund (Nhan Dan Newspaper) was established and operated under Decision No. 930/QD-BNV dated October 8, 2012 of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Since its establishment, the Fund has awarded hundreds of gratitude houses, hundreds of savings books to policy families, families with revolutionary contributions, households affected by natural disasters, families in especially difficult circumstances and nearly 3,000 scholarships to poor and studious students across the country.
Mr. Phan Van Giap - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province said that in the recent university admission exam, Cao Bang province had 2,158 students passing the entrance exam to colleges and universities, many of whom passed with high total scores.
However, many of these students have difficult family circumstances, so the scholarships contribute to encouraging and helping them and their families to go less hard and feel secure in their studies.
