On March 24, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the mind assessment exam scores for the 2nd phase of 2026 for more than 20,000 candidates.
Accordingly, the valedictorian of the 2nd round this year is candidate Nguyen Tuan Dat from Vinh Bao High School, Hai Phong, achieving 98.98/100 points. This is also the highest score ever, breaking the previous valedictorian record of 98.61 points.
On the morning of March 24, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, the Board of Directors of Vinh Bao High School said that Nguyen Tuan Dat is a 12A1 student. In addition to achievements in the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, student Nguyen Tuan Dat has been an excellent student for many consecutive years along with a series of impressive achievements in exams.
Dat won the Gold Medal in Chess at the Phu Dong Health Festival of Hai Phong City in the 2023-2024 school year; First prize in Mathematics in English at the Hai Phong City Excellent Student Exam in the 2023-2024 school year; Second prize in Physics in English at the city level in the 2024-2025 school year; Second prize in Mathematics at the city level in the 2025-2026 school year.
Also according to school leaders, in addition to impressive academic achievements, student Nguyen Tuan Dat is obedient, polite to teachers, sociable with friends, and actively participates in activities at school and in class. Dat is also a student with good logical thinking, comprehensively excellent in all subjects.
Ms. Tran Thi Trang Nhung - Vice Principal of Vinh Bao High School said that for competency assessment exams, the school proactively orients students from grade 10. In addition to using the results of the high school graduation exam, students are encouraged to participate in competency assessment and thinking assessment exams to increase their chances of university admission.
