Under the heat of the 2025 university admission exam, setting a correct, sufficient and smart wish becomes a huge pressure for many candidates. Amidst countless different options and advice, many students still struggle to find the right path for themselves.
Phung Ha Linh - a candidate taking the high school graduation exam in Hanoi - said that recently he often worried about losing sleep because he thought about how to arrange his wishes properly, not missing the opportunity to go to university.
The female student said that choosing a major was already difficult, setting a wish was even harder. Because just a small mistake, you can lose the opportunity to enter a suitable school or fall into a situation where you have to study a major you do not really like.
Linh's concern is also the common mentality of many candidates in this year's admission season. Nguyen Nhu Quynh - a candidate taking the high school graduation exam in Thanh Hoa expressed the pressure when many friends around had "finalized" their wish list early, even hired a private consulting center to calculate their ability to pass the university entrance exam in detail. Meanwhile, Quynh expressed that she was still confused between dozens of options without knowing how to arrange them appropriately.
I feel that I lack information on career orientation and am worried that the admission score will fluctuate a lot. If not carefully calculated right from the step of arranging wishes, the chance of being admitted could become even more fragile" - the female student sighed.
Make the most of your wishes, avoid making small mistakes that waste opportunities
Giving advice to candidates when registering for university admission wishes, Ms. Tran Thi Tho - a teacher at Hoang Van Thu High School (Hanoi) said that determining and filling wishes is often divided into two stages. The first phase is before the high school graduation exam, during which time students search for university admission information and determine their dreams and favorite majors.
The second phase takes place after students have completed the exam and can estimate their scores based on their answers. Once the score is determined, candidates can adjust their wishes to suit them, closely following the actual exam scores while still maintaining their dream orientation.
In addition, students should make the most of their wishes to have many backup options to avoid risks. The top priority wishes should be to be given top priority, followed by options that are more suitable to the expected score" - Ms. Tho advised.
Sharing about this issue, MSc. Do Ngoc Anh - Director of the Center for Communication and Admissions, Hanoi Open University - noted that all wishes are required to register on the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28.
This person said that in reality, many candidates only submit their application to the school or register on the separate system of universities, then mistakenly think that they have completed the admission process. This is a very unfortunate mistake, the wishes are not recognized, which means that the students lose the opportunity to be admitted.
"Whether submitting paperwork, registering online at school or participating in admission by transcript, students still need to complete the wish registration operation on the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time limit" - MSc. Do Ngoc Anh emphasized.
