After 80 years of development, going through a period of fierce war, even when the resistance war against French colonialism entered its most intense period, the classes were still bright, the collective of generations of leaders, lecturers, civil servants, and workers of the school were still steadfast in their faith, together overcoming all difficulties, building the school to develop more and more.
Entering the period of innovation, the University of Transport has constantly expanded the scale of training, diversified occupations, formed a postgraduate training system, built research institutes, training centers and technology transfer, and expanded international cooperation to access knowledge and advanced technology in the world.
The school has trained more than 150,000 engineers, bachelors, 15,000 masters and hundreds of doctors for the country; Forming a team of nearly 900 staff and lecturers, of which more than 50% have a doctorate degree.
In addition, the school has carried out many scientific research projects for core technologies and strategic technologies of the country; has proactively organized research, initially applied and brought efficiency in practice.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the great contributions of generations of teachers and students of the School of Transport are a beautiful symbol of intelligence, creativity and the spirit of serving the country.
Tens of thousands of talented engineers, scientists, experts, and managers have studied and matured from this school, spreading throughout the land and sky of the beautiful Fatherland, creating the country's cardiovascular works.
Entering a new stage of development, facing many new opportunities and challenges, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the University of Transport strengthen training program innovation, integrate advanced content on digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data into core majors such as smart transportation, green logistics; Promote scientific research and technology transfer; focus resources to form laboratories, research centers, international-class industrial science centers as the core; proactively propose to the Government, ministries, departments, branches and localities major problems on science and technology, etc.
"Teachers need to continue to be role models, students need to practice their mettle, creativity, and readiness to contribute to the country" - he emphasized.
At the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son praised and acknowledged the achievements that the University of Transport has achieved, especially the proactive, pioneering and creative spirit in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 71-NQ/TW.
In the coming time, the Minister suggested that the University of Transport continue to implement the two resolutions mentioned above with practical and specific results.
The Minister also set specific tasks: Promoting the pioneering role in training high-quality technical human resources, especially in the fields of modern railways, digital infrastructure, green energy, semiconductor technology and smart cities;
Continue to promote the formation of an innovation ecosystem in schools, contributing to creating a pillar of science and technology to promote the breakthrough development of national transportation and infrastructure;
Good management and development of facilities for training and research, especially laboratories;
Expanding the school's pedagogical space to be worthy of its role as a key technical university in the country.
Responding to the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Principal of the University of Transport affirmed that the First Class Labor Medal awarded by the Party, State and Government is a great honor, and at the same time, a heavy responsibility.
