More than 760 billion VND to connect traffic between 2 localities
The investment project to build a bridge over the Hoa River and the section through Hai Phong of the road from Thai Binh City to Nghin Bridge (Hoa River bridge project) was approved by the Hai Phong City People's Council at the 2nd session of the 16th term (August 2021).
Project to build a bridge over Hoa River with a length of 411.2 m, retaining wall length of 140 m; bridge width of 22.5 m; navigation clearance BxH=30mx6m. At the same time, build a connecting road according to the scale of a level II plain road, cross-section width of 22.5 m with a length of 1,882 m and other works on the route according to current standards.
The project is being implemented in Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong and Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province with a total land area of nearly 12 hectares. The total investment of the project is more than 760 billion VND from the budget of Hai Phong city and Thai Binh province. In particular, Thai Binh province's budget will pay for the site clearance of the bridge and the approach road of the Hoa River overpass in the province.
The project is expected to shorten travel time between Thai Binh and Nam Dinh provinces with Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province, reducing the load on National Highway 10. The project also contributes to enhancing traffic safety, reducing traffic accidents in the area; creating favorable conditions to attract investment, contributing to promoting socio-economic development between Thai Binh Province and Hai Phong City.
Preparing to close the overpass project before Tet
According to the report of the Hai Phong City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, by September 2024, localities will complete site clearance of more than 9 hectares of land and hand it over to the construction unit.
The contractors started construction in April 2024 and are currently constructing the pedestal, body, and cap beams of the piers, the bridge deck; box retaining walls; cement-reinforced soil piles for the roadbed; roadbed aggregate layers; and Super T beams. Currently, the contractors have completed 109/109 bored piles, 62/100 Super T beams, 7/11 piers and abutments, with the completed volume by November 25, 2024 reaching about 58% of the contract value.
In a recent inspection of the Hoa River overpass construction project, the Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee requested contractors to speed up the construction progress of the items, striving to close the Hoa River overpass on the 23rd of December and open it to traffic on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 2025).
Along with this project, Hai Phong City promotes the construction of the renovation and upgrading project of the 1.65km section from Hoa River Bridge to Provincial Road 354, Vinh Bao District (under the Hoa River Bridge Construction Investment Project connecting Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong with Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province) and the construction of the road from Provincial Road 354, Tien Lang District to National Highway 10, Vinh Bao District. Thai Binh Province focuses on completing the road project from Thai Binh to Nghin Bridge under the form of a BOT contract, 21.28 km long (starting point from the beginning of Hoa River Bridge, An Thanh Commune, Quynh Phu District, the end point connecting to Vo Nguyen Giap Road in Dong My Commune, Thai Binh City) in 2025. Thereby, promoting the effectiveness of the projects, creating a regional traffic connection system for the goal of modernizing the traffic infrastructure of both Hai Phong and Thai Binh localities.
