On September 28, rocks and soil on the hill collapsed, pouring down onto National Highway 28B, about km40 on Dai Ninh Pass in Phan Son Commune, Lam Dong Province.
This location has a cliff on one side and a pass abyss on the other side with a slope under construction. Landslides have killed the road surface, blocking traffic. Cars had to wait in line. Motorbikes can weave through rocks and soil to get around, but it is very difficult.

The time of the landslide was also the peak time when cars took cadres and civil servants from Phan Thiet back to the Lam Dong Provincial Administrative Center (Da Lat) to go to work tomorrow morning. Therefore, the landslide has made many people worried and reminded each other to choose another route to go.
After the landslide and traffic jam occurred, the construction unit upgrading National Highway 28B with a nearby camp brought excavators to scrap the layer of soil and rock dumped on the road. After that, the road was cleared for cars to circulate again.

The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B is being implemented in a sluggish manner at many locations. The site clearance work along the construction route is still stuck, causing progress to be delayed.
On Dai Ninh Pass, there is often rain in the afternoon, making the road slippery and difficult for vehicles to travel. There are days when from 3pm, fog covers the pass, limiting visibility.

Many drivers advised each other that if traveling from Phan Thiet to Da Lat in the evening, they should choose another route to be safer such as Gia Bac Pass (National Highway 28) but the route has many curved bends; or go through Khanh Hoa to Ngoan Chec Pass (National Highway 27, but the route is longer.
