The Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project has a total investment of about 5,600 billion VND, divided into 2 investment phases. The project is invested by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
Mr. Tran Hoang Vinh - Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works of Quang Ngai province said that so far, phase I (Dung Quat - My Khe, My Khe - Tra Khuc section) has been completed and put into use with a total length of more than 30 km, with a implementation cost of nearly 1,500 billion VND.

Currently, the investor is implementing the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project phase IIa, component 1 and phase IIb. In which, phase IIa, component 1 is invested south of Co Luy - Duc Chanh bridge (now Mo Cay commune), with a total length of more than 13 km, implementation cost of nearly 1,200 billion VND.
Phase IIb has a total investment of nearly 900 billion VND. The work of this phase includes completing Chau Me Dong bridge and Quang My bridge to replace Quang My spillway in Tinh Hoa commune, former Quang Ngai city (now Dong Son commune).
At the same time, adding a connecting section from Duc Chanh commune to Duc Minh commune (now Mo Cay commune) to connect with the district center of Mo Duc (old), creating development momentum for the southern urban area of Quang Ngai.
Currently, Quang Ngai is accelerating the investment preparation phase III of the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project to the south, with a total length of nearly 40 km, running throughout the province.
In which, this phase has a total estimated investment of about 6,000 billion VND, mainly using central resources, invested to connect the section Km 76+230 - Km 82 of phase IIb being implemented.
The route extends southward for about 43 km, built with asphalt concrete pavement structure, standard design of level II delta, 26 m wide, traffic speed of 80 km/h. Most of the route is parallel to National Highway 1 (more than 5 km overlapping), running close to the sea and passing through communes and wards: Tra Cau, Duc Pho, Khanh Cuong and Sa Huynh.
The route section is expected to be deployed and completed before 2030. When completed, phases I and II will be connected smoothly to form the North-South coastal axis from Dung Quat to Sa Huynh with a total length of more than 140 km.
At the same time, connecting with the coastal roads of Da Nang city and Gia Lai province at both ends, directly sharing traffic with National Highway 1, building infrastructure to create room for socio-economic development, contributing to ensuring national defense and security for the eastern region of Quang Ngai.
