At some toll stations, there is a situation where vehicles when passing through the station cannot collect tolls automatically, and barriers are not automatically opened.

The reason is that many drivers do not understand that this expressway section has been charged tolls, so they have not pasted the card or do not have enough money in their accounts. Some automatic toll cards are faulty or vehicles have changed license plates; meanwhile, vehicles entering the expressway move at high speeds, causing license plate readers to not have time to record.

Real-world records at Dong Xuan toll station (Dong Son ward, Thanh Hoa province) show that in the early days of toll collection on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 expressway, VETC Automatic Toll Collection Co., Ltd. has arranged many officials and employees to support drivers when passing through the station.

Along with that, traffic police and mobile police forces are also strengthened to ensure safety and guide drivers in and out in case of congestion at toll stations.

At this toll station, the volume of vehicles leaving the expressway is not large. However, there is still a situation where vehicles when passing through the station cannot collect tolls automatically, and the barrier does not automatically open.

Representatives of VETC Automatic Toll Collection Co., Ltd. said that to overcome the above situation, staff at stations will support drivers to re-stamp cards or guide them to access money top-up applications, creating favorable conditions for vehicles to pass through the toll station quickly.
