According to information from the Ministry of Finance, in April 2025 alone, the automatic personal income tax (PIT) refund system recorded positive results, demonstrating efforts to modernize and reform administrative procedures in the tax sector, while creating maximum convenience for taxpayers.
The Ministry of Finance said that from the time of implementing the automatic personal income tax refund on the eTax Mobile application on April 4, 2025 to April 24, 2025, 452,003 taxpayers have submitted settlement statements with tax refund requests. Of these, 187,798 dossiers are eligible for automatic tax refunds, accounting for 41.5% of the total number of dossiers requesting refunds, with a total amount of up to VND 884.2 billion.
To date, the tax authority has created a tax refund order and electronically sent it to the State Treasury to pay tax refunds to taxpayers, with a total of 138,499 orders, equivalent to VND 645.5 billion. This is considered an important step forward to help shorten processing time, reduce paperwork and limit direct contact between people and tax authorities.
