Binh Duong provincial agencies are conducting a pre-feasibility study on urban railway line 2 with Thu Dau Mot city - Ho Chi Minh City.
The Thu Dau Mot City - Ho Chi Minh City urban railway line 2 project has a starting point (connecting to Station S5 of Line 1) in Phu My Ward, Thu Dau Mot City. The end point is in Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An city connecting to extended route 3 of Ho Chi Minh City in Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city.
The route length is 21.87 km, expected to have about 13 stations and 1 platform (opposite the platform with route 1 in Phu Chanh ward, Tan Uyen city or the platform with route 3 in HCMC in Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city).
The route passes through Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An city, meeting the capacity of transporting 30,000 - 40,000 people/direction/hour.

Regarding investment capital, 2 options are proposed. Option 1 (to go high) is expected to be over VND53,000 billion (equivalent to over USD2 billion); Option 2 (to go underground) is expected to be over VND68,500 billion (about USD2.6 billion).
Binh Duong Provincial Electronic Information Portal reported that Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has agreed with option 1 (to go high) as the optimal way to save a huge amount of capital.
Chairman of Binh Duong People's Committee assigns departments to coordinate with localities and consultants to urgently provide data, complete the contents of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to consult the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.
