At noon in DEEP C Industrial Park (Hai Phong), the rooftop solar power system of FLAT Vietnam Company operates effectively. On hot sunny days, peak capacity reaches over 9MW, meeting about 1/3 of the power demand of the plant.
Mr. Dao Van Thuan - Electricity Manager of DEEP C Industrial Complex - said that in the industrial complex, there are many other businesses that have invested hundreds of billions of VND to install rooftop solar power for self-production and self-consomment.
According to Mr. Dao Van Thuan, after the new policies were issued, many businesses in the industrial park simultaneously invested in installing rooftop solar power systems. Thanks to that, in just about 3 months (from April to June this year), the total rooftop solar power capacity in the industrial park increased by more than 70%.
For the electricity system, the development of rooftop solar power helps reduce the demand for electricity transmission, and at the same time supports meeting the electricity consumption needs of businesses at peak times of the day. More importantly, rooftop solar power contributes to reducing pressure on the power supply system in each area.
Mr. Ha Dang Son - Director of the Center for Energy Research and Green Growth, said that if businesses promote the installation of rooftop solar power, these localities themselves will have more room for power sources, thereby reducing pressure on the transmission system.
This creates synchronization between the source of electricity produced and the demand for electricity for cooling, thereby directly reducing the pressure of electricity consumption from the national grid" - Mr. Ha Dang Son said.
Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) informed that in July 2026 and the first 7 months of the year, EVN and its units ensured sufficient electricity supply to serve the socio-economic development of the country, meeting the living needs of the people. Electricity production and import of the entire system in July 2026 reached 32.03 billion kWh; accumulated for 7 months of 2026, the total system output reached 203.57 billion kWh.
To ensure electricity supply to serve the double-digit growth target in 2026, EVN requests hydropower units to closely monitor weather, hydrology, dam and reservoir safety; thermal power units to proactively use fuel and materials, and strengthen equipment inspection to operate safely and continuously.
Strictly implement the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Group on preparing fuel for electricity production, ensuring sufficient fuel for operation and inventory according to norms, ensuring sufficient fuel supply for the current and long-term periods...
Closely coordinate with NSMO in managing and forecasting electricity load demand, assessing the impact of the development of distributed power sources, the development of electric vehicles, promoting energy saving solutions, efficient energy use, load shifting and being ready to mobilize diesel customers when necessary.
Mr. Do Van Nam - Member of the Member Council of Northern Power Corporation said that to ensure electricity supply for production, the electricity industry has invited large customers, in addition to informing about the electricity supply situation, will clearly point out the difficulties and challenges that the Northern power system will have to go through.
At the same time, review customers with backup generator systems to sign commitments and exchange information so that they can be ready to share power generation in hot sunny days, or adjust labor productivity, and can pre-produce finished products in low-pressure months to reserve and limit load for peak months.
At the same time, exchange with businesses to move production lines reasonably during peak days.
