These days, all over the coffee grounds in Son La, people are busy harvesting clusters of ripe berries. This year, the output is assessed to be more stable than last year, with high purchase prices from the beginning of the crop.

The whole province of Son La currently has nearly 18,000 hectares of coffee, of which more than 15,000 hectares are being harvested, with an estimated output of about 180,000 tons of fresh fruit.
Mr. Luong Van Chien, Chieng Mai commune shared: "Every year, prices only increase towards the end of the season, this year right at the beginning of the season, they have reached 17,000 VND/kg, sometimes up to 20,000 VND/kg. My family has 1.5 hectares, expected yield of about 15 tons, estimated revenue of more than 250 million VND".
This is a very exciting price for people to confidently invest in caring for and harvesting.
Mr. Bui Cong Thanh, owner of a coffee processing facility in Son La, said that since the beginning of the crop, he has purchased about 1,000 tons of fresh fruit from farmers, and his facility is processing dozens of tons every day.
"Currently, our facility is maintaining hundreds of coffee purchasing points from people" - Mr. Thanh said.

Mr. Lo Van Binh (residing in Tong Set village, Chieng An commune) informed that his family currently has 3 hectares of coffee being harvested, with an estimated output of 25 tons of fresh fruit, and he plans to earn more than 400 million VND.
This is the highest price in the past 10 years. I will spend a part of my capital reinvesting in care, the rest will be spent on living expenses and children's education" - Mr. Binh shared.
According to the assessment of the Son La agricultural sector, this year's coffee output increased by 5 - 10% compared to last year, the quality of the fruit was even, the ratio of low-seed and ripe fruit was quite even.
The world coffee price maintaining an upward trend also helps farmers feel excited. It is forecasted that by the end of the year, prices will remain high, facilitating both production and processing.
Son La currently accounts for more than 40% of the country's Arabica coffee area. The province is planning to maintain 20,000 hectares by 2030, in parallel with replanting, intensive cultivation, application of deep processing technology and building a specialty coffee brand.

Ms. Ngan Thi Minh Thanh - Deputy Director of the Agricultural Technical Center of Son La province said: "The unit promotes the dissemination of harvesting and preliminary processing techniques according to standards, environmental protection. At the same time, encourage cooperatives to link consumption. The goal is not only to sell fresh coffee but also to increase added value, aiming for specialty products in the international market".
Mr. Vuong Ba Trung - Deputy Director of Cat Que Production and Trading Company Limited shared: "The enterprise has signed sponsorship contracts with many cooperatives and coffee growers. We are currently arranging 2 main purchasing points in Muoi Noi, Muong Chanh and hundreds of retail points across the raw material area".
Right from the beginning of the 2025 coffee crop with record high prices, opening up new expectations, helping farmers feel secure in sticking with coffee trees, increasing income and sustainable development on their homeland.
