On August 16, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province assigned the Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade to complete the bidding process for selecting investors and bidding criteria for power projects.
The bidding is conducted publicly and transparently to find investors with financial capacity and expertise in electricity development.
According to Power Plan VIII (National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050), Gia Lai prioritizes maximum power sources from renewable energy such as: wind power, solar power, biomass power...
The province will increase the proportion of renewable energy in the power source structure and electricity production. At the same time, promote the development of offshore and near-shore wind power; solar power, especially solar power floating on water surfaces, in accordance with the ability to release the capacity of the power grid.
In previous years, the implementation of the adjusted Power Plan VII in Gia Lai still had many shortcomings such as: adding a plan for each wind power project, individual solar power, lacking comprehensiveness and synchronization.
In the near future, the province will publicize the land fund for renewable energy development in the planning and land use plan of the province, and coordinate with EVN to improve the capacity to release renewable energy projects.
Currently, Gia Lai has more than 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of about 1,350 MW, mainly concentrated in the western communes of the province. Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant departments and branches to promptly complete documents and propose competent authorities to grant power operation licenses for 5 projects: Cho Long Wind Power Plant, Yang Trung Wind Power Plant, Ia Pech Wind Power Plant, Mien Dinh Development Wind Power Plant and Tay Nguyen Processing Wind Power Plant.
