The Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant project started construction in 2021, with a total investment of 2.2 billion USD with 2 generators with a total capacity of more than 1,200 MW. The project is implemented under the BOT form, with Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited as the investor.
After more than 4 years of investment and construction, Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited put Plant No. 1 into commercial operation on July 22, 2025 with a capacity of 665MW.
During the construction phase, Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited employed more than 18,600 workers, contributing significantly to job creation in the locality.
According to the plan, Plant No. 2 will be completed and put into commercial operation by the end of 2025. When the two plants are completed, Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant will create jobs for more than 500 officers and employees at the plant.
Every year, the plant will supply about 7.8 billion kWh to the national grid, while contributing an average of 30 billion VND/month to the State budget.
