On June 15, Vietnam Airlines and its member units held a groundbreaking ceremony for two aviation service projects at Long Thanh airport, including the No. 1 airline meal supply project and the No. 1 aircraft maintenance and business investment project.
The two projects have a total investment of nearly VND1,800 billion, belonging to component project 4, Long Thanh airport project.
In particular, the project to invest in the construction and business of aircraft maintenance services No. 1 is implemented by the Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO). The aircraft maintenance and service business area was built on an area of nearly 46,000m2, with a total investment of more than 1,100 billion VND in phase 1.
This is an integrated aviation technical complex, including an aircraft storage facility (hangar) capable of simultaneous maintenance of 2 wide-body (Code E) and 2 narrow-body (Code C), along with equipment workshops, technical areas, material warehouses and auxiliary systems. The minimum maintenance capacity is designed to be 250,000 Mhrs/year, expected to serve 120 - 150 aircraft maintenance/year.
The No. 1 aviation food service investment, construction and business project is implemented by Vietnam Airlines Career One Member Co., Ltd. (VACS) on an area of over 30,000m2, with a total investment of about 700 billion VND.
In the first phase, this place has the capacity to provide 20,000 meals/day and has been expanded to 40,000 meals/day with the development of Long Thanh airport. The units strive to complete the two projects at the same time as Long Thanh airport enters commercial operation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Uong Viet Dung - Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said: The groundbreaking of the aircraft maintenance and food provision area at Long Thanh airport is very important, ensuring consistency when the airport goes into commercial operation, and at the same time requesting relevant units to work with a spirit of urgency, no days off, strengthen supervision, ensure the two projects are completed on schedule and with quality.
