On September 21, in Hai Phong, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City organized the 7th Regional Logistics Forum with the theme "Creating a new development space for logistics in the Red River Delta region".

Previously, the Politburo issued Resolution 27-NQ/TW dated August 28, 2026 on developing regions and organizing national development space in the new period, which identified the development goal of the Red River Delta region as a rapid and sustainable development region. In which, logistics is identified as one of the important fields, contributing to strengthening regional linkages and promoting the advantages of each locality in the common value chain.
According to Mr. Ho Sy Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in the context of a strong restructuring of the global supply chain, logistics is no longer simply a transportation activity but has become a part of national competitiveness.
At the Forum, delegates focused on analyzing bottlenecks in logistics development in the Red River Delta region, especially in terms of transport infrastructure and connectivity between modes of transport, logistics costs, operating capacity and regional linkage; and at the same time proposed solutions for green and modern logistics development, promoting digital transformation and improving the competitiveness of the entire region. The discussion sessions focused on analyzing bottlenecks in logistics development in the Red River Delta region and proposing solutions.
Speaking to direct at the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized: Logistics is no longer just a supporting service industry but an important part of the national economic infrastructure, directly determining the competitiveness of goods and the entire economy. Over the past time, Vietnam's logistics industry has maintained an average growth rate of 14-16%/year, contributing 4.5-5% to GDP, and logistics costs have decreased to about 16% of GDP.
However, this cost is still high compared to the regional average, along with bottlenecks in road traffic infrastructure, unsynchronized multimodal connections and limited business capacity.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, and localities to focus on synchronously developing infrastructure, increasing connectivity between modes of transport; continue to improve institutions, simplify procedures, connect and share data, with the ultimate goal of substantially reducing logistics costs for businesses and the economy.
Strongly shift action thinking from developing logistics according to administrative boundaries to organizing logistics according to economic regions, economic corridors and supply chains. This is a very important requirement in the thinking of developing 6 economic regions of the Politburo. The logistics sector has no administrative boundaries, therefore, each locality cannot build a closed logistics system itself but must be synchronized, connected and effectively shared" - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized.
